So just to make sure my logic is right here, the ecu will adapt for the exhaust & header to prevent a lean condition. The hp gains from these parts won't be optimal as if the ecu was specifically tuned for them but I will still save some weight and get the nicer exhaust tone. This sound about right?

I just pulled my 20 AMP fuse and my engine won't start, all I could hear is my alternator cranking. Is my battery dead, or did I do something wrong?

We are done, total time 7.5 hours. All I need is the ECU back from PES.

I know they got it today, if they were able to get it done I should have it back on Thursday or Friday. It is going to be hell watching the car sit there with no ECU. I guess tomorrow night would be a good time to wax it.

Honestly I think the next one we could do in under 6 hours as we spent much of the 7.5 hours looking at the pictures and following the directions step by step and were not able to fully double team the job.

While we did it with the clam on, I would suggest putting the car on 4 jack stands, taking the right rear wheel off as well as the wheel liner and the belly pan and rear diffuser. All of it will come off in less than 20 minutes (if you are really slow) and it makes the job a lot easier. We did not start off by doing any of this and it probably wasted over an hour when we finally decided to take it off. Also on the Exige, in the engine compartment there are two panels that snap right off that also help accessibility (found them at the very end where trying to put the air box back together).

We were able to get to the belt tensioner from the top tonight and found that it does not take that much pressure, you just have to apply constant pressure to allow the pressure cylinder to compress. We used a 3/8 ratchet with a long extension with a socket attached, worked just fine.

Anyways it is late and I need to go to bed, not that I will be able to sleep.

I would like to thank Fred again for the group buy, had he not done this it would have been next spring before I would have done this mod. I owe you.

Rick

I am into giving Fred a big high five -- I was planning on this some time next year - but the group buy was just too hard to pass up. I know I have about another month left of weather and this mod is going making it super sweet.

PES got mine at 10:00 a.m. yesterday and I was told that it would either go out same day or the following day (today) I paid for 2nd day air (should have gone with one day). Thus I expect to have mine back by Friday although I have not heard for sure the status.

I will post when I get it so everyone has an idea.

Mechanically Challenged here!

I have decided to do the install myself. I am going to do it with the clam off, just so I will have more room to see what I am doing. The adventure begins tonight! Wish me luck.

Rick,

I pm'd you my cell phone and a link that give some good diagrams of the engine. If you need any advice just call. I will carry a laptop and the photo cd with me this weekend so if you get stuck I can help.

Also I have a couple of thoughts I will email you tonight that will help make the job a bit easier.

Rick

I'm in the same boat as you. Haven't done anything more than an oil change, but with those instructions, it shouldn't be any harder than putting togther a iKea furniture.

What the heck is a iKea furniture?

I would offer to give you some advise on installing the s/c, but it would be like the Blind leading the Blind. Heck, what can go wrong.
Good luck with your's.
Rick
P.S. I keep saying this, Thanks Rick!

I am curious, is anyone thinking about putting a s or s/c on their car to indicate it has been supercharged?

I was thinking about doing something, but my wife was trying to talk me out of it. What I was considering was making a little Superman S that I would put behind the Exige on the back and maybe one under the side lights on the front fenders.

We own a sign shop, thus I could cut a bunch of these out (whatever these is) and send them to the individuals from the group buy.

Any thoughts?

Rick

Congrats Rick, glad to hear it is going well.

I am still waiting for my ECU, hopefully today.

As for the stickers, I am having a bunch of them made in black today (who knows how many) and I would be happy to send to them to anyone who wants one. I will post a picture this weekend.

Rick

100% respect for someone that can do that. It would take me many days.

Alternator relocation

If anyone else is having a problem with the alternator relocation make sure the bushing is in far enough. I ended up using the tool like 4 times and it still would not go on. Then hand sanded the paint off of the new bushing that you install with the alternator. After that it slid in with minimal effort. You have to get the alternator in the right angle and it kind of falls in place. I am also waiting for the ECU to come back. The whole install was pretty easy the hardest part was putting the belt back on.

I am on the phone with my wife right now my ECU is at the house....

Within a few hours I will be

And then my wife will be in order to stop me.

NoisyCow,

Remember I did it with a friend who is a mechanic by trade and has worked on tons of force fed cars. It was worth the 12 pack of Keystone Light that I had to buy for him.

Mimzy,

What new bushing??? We did not replace the lower bushing, just pushed it in.. in fact my kit did not have a new bushing in it. We did put a little grease (very thin film) on the spacer and the alternator to get them to slide but it took a bunch of work to get the alignment right on the lower mount.

But boy was it rewarding when it was finally done.

FVMC said they would have no problem using a katana tune for the BWR supercharger as it uses the same Eaton supercharger.

I have a couple of different header setups going but they've all been S's, but so far we're tuning on per car basis. The headers will cause the tune to run lean, you'll probably see 13.1-13.5 area, I realise there is a disagreement going here and rather than get into it again, i'd say go with what fred/PES recommends for their tune, and with what i recommend for my tune and leave it at that.

In the process of a 4-2 header tune for the katana though, i also have the FF race headers 4-1 to tune for at some point, just need to go to the dyno again. I do have a test tune for the tubulars for the katana, but its not been released yet.

I've done a few of the bwr cars so far, have yet to hear of a problem.
