I want to do this to mine in solar yellow.

Thanks

I had the body shop do mine, not sure what they all did but it looks really good.

I'll go down and take some pics in a bit. I think mine came out nice, the green is a nice contrast with the solar yellow, a little lighter than I was targeting but I'm pleased with the result. It is kind of neat how you can see them through the grill on the Exige hatch.

But, I also feel inadequate. Frank's covers with the stripe look awesome. And peahee's two tone. And, and... They all look really cool. Anyway, pics coming in a little bit.

Finally got to mine

Well I've been meaning to do this mod for quite some time and the rain this weekend finally got to me so here she is. Easy mod, I just used a Silver Metallic Sharpie from my daughters art supplies.

Looks good. Did you tape anything off or did you just go freehand?

Not yet, but I'm keeping an eye on it.

I figure if it does discolor, I can always paint it and do it the hard way.

I did mine as well using not a Sharpie but a paint pen from the art store, it's like Stan's red and black. So far mine has been rained on and driven in 100+ degree heat and it looks to be holding up fine.

My wife did ours last fall (hey she wanted to help!) - no heat issues so far...

I took ivan1's cover painting and Photoshopped it to have a green logo. What do people think? I am most likely going to go with this one.

This looks like pig's cover painting, except in yellow.

BOB1984 has the color scheme with silver lettering, though the yellow is not as bright (too flat).

Painted Engine Covers

I finished my engine covers yesterday. It took me some time to find a yellow that would closely match the Saffron Yellow exterior. Valspar "Odds 'N' Ends" 107S Sunshine Yellow was perfect. The yellow color is identical the Lotus Saffron Yellow in normal sunlight, incandescent lights, and warm white fluorescent, but very slightly different under cool white fluorescent. The silver lettering is from Testors Aluminum 1181 and the black primer was Krylon Fusion for Plastic. It was all top coated with Krylon UV-resistant Clear. After each coat air-dried for 24 hrs the pieces were backed in a 150 oF oven for 4 hrs.

Thanks for the inspiration from LT contributors!!!!

P.S. don't try this in California. Some of the paints contain components that are known to cause cancer in California (according to the labels). Sounds like a dangerous place - glad I don't live there!
