Popping sounds when shifting

Occasionally, today, I heard popping sounds after shifting out of second and third. No problems on the others. What could this be?

Is it the exhaust? Mine nearly always pops when hard shifting.

Not sure. It does seem to come from the rear, not the gearbox. Smooth shifting too, but as soon as I am in the gear, a pop sound is heard.

If it is popping because you lifted off the throttle (when you shift) this is quite normal depending on the type of exhaust you have.
