Ugghh - isn't this stuff just a big waste of money because the stock ECU will eliminate any kind of power gain this stuff provides in about 400 to 600 miles???

no no no no...SOME parts you may change will be tuned out, this is the biggest missconception on this forum that limits so many people from modifying this car.
I have tested this over and over and over. the thread got deleted by the new admin but i will start a new thread just about the results of the header and not for retail purposes. the summary of the test was this: dyno stock installed header dyno'd with WR header dyno'd with WR header 2k miles later (i think it was about 2k John ?) dyno'd again a few months later results:~9whp gain from stock after 3 months on stock ecu in a daily driver with plenty of miles on it and NO CELS.... THE POWER WILL STAY!!!! ![]() |

Dustin has tested this many many times and the net HP gain remained. I also own a weapon-R header.

That is great to hear. I don't want the government or Lotus to have that much control over my car
.However, am I correct that the Lotus ECU will override any benefits from a more free flowing non-stock exhaust and the aftermarket intakes? Thanks for the info.

no that is not completely true either, CERTAIN intakes will make and keep the gains because of the design of them, the Weapon-r intake is one of those also, it was thuroughly tested and designed so that it wont be making power that will be lost from ecu learning/adjusting.
Exhaust i would have to guess that no one makes much power on them over stock stage 2's which most of the cars i have dyno'd already had. The most gain you will see from an exhaust on an NA car would be 1whp on a straight thru design and the biggest gain is really the weight loss. The WR header sheds off ~15lbs and if you went from a stock exhaust to something light weight im sure there is another 10lbs+ to be lost which combined is a nice diet. |

The 9 whp gain is on the header. The 1 whp gain is on a straight through design exhaust (muffler).

I installed the Weapon R race header over the weekend.
Great header for the price but not a direct fit on the muffler side. I had to modify the u-bend. Something off with the u-bend. Phil had the same issue. That being said, no regrets. Looks good, sounds good, and I'm sure it's worth some HP.

Phil heated his with a torch and jacked it into position. He's a better man then I ! It's possible that it might fit a small dia muffler. The angle of the u-bend pushed my can too far towards the rear of the car. Makes sense?

+1 on Jim's comments...
I'm quite certain that there's headers make power. The sound is clearly different. The U bend is clearly not accurate. It doesn't come a full 180 degree back around and it's angled down too far. The jack and torch method I used only fixed the vertical aspect probelm of the bend and got me back on the road. Where Jim's cut and weld fixed both. I was hoping that I could deal with front to back issue since my exhaust is so small___ and I will *deal* with it in the short run. In the long run, I'm probably going to have to cut the U as Jim did to fix that issue. If anything, the exhaust can is sitting so catty-whompis that it just looks bad through the clamhinge rear panel I don't also don't regret the purchase, as it is a nice piece in general and half or a third of the cost of others out there... However, it's clearly not bolt on product for the masses----yet. Weapon R or Dusty needs to make a change in the product to fit the car, as I doubt most will have the ability to do what Jim and I did... Best, Phil

i talked to the person who engineered this header and brought this to his attention at the time because i had a slight issue myself but was able to muscle it into place on one of them and from one other person said the same thing, i dont know if it was the jig they were using or if something else got messed up during production but im going to bring it to his attention again because this current batch of headers is almost gone so the next batch can be corrected.
