Sport 190 on the way - LotusTalk

I found a car I had to buy.
It's a 1999 Lotus Elise Sport 190. I found it at Lotus of Portland.

As soon as a saw it I knew I had to have it.
A few calls later a deal was struck and we should see the car in January.
I'll post when it arrives for those who would like to see it or better yet we might arrange for you to drive it.

P.S. Is eight Lotus's too many? Our HRM Elise Is for sale or rent in the Lotus Cup Racing Series!

Nice... make sure when you get the car that you check the external pull cable for the fire system to make sure it still functions. Very common for water/moisture to collect down inside the cable and soon it becomes corroded and inoperable.

Is this beautiful Elise street legal or track-only? I thought the Elise started selling in US market on late-2004/2005??

I was planning on on checking the front and rear "trunk" cables, I'll check that one too.

It was imported by Lotus Cars USA as a Track/Racing car only. You had to sign paper to that effect and you faced stiff fines if you got caught with it on the road.

You should ping Jeff Plummer - Lotus Corps Chicago area. He has a yellow S1 that he takes out on the street (as well as a regular S2 Elise).

He once explained to me how he registered it. It has something to do with the S2 VIN/etc.

A great charge to see on the street!

Yea, We have a local GGLC club member that has a yellow S1 Sport 190 that has plates. It is still the rover engine.

From the Lotus Sport 190 Press release;

Powered by a highly modified Rover 1.8-liter engine, the Sport Elise develops 190 hp at 7000 rpm. Not carbed, on individual throttle bodies. Sport 190s are awesome, and a lot quicker than you'd think. Due to their weight, they'll show a clean pair of heels to a Cup260 Exige if driven properly
