2002 Lotus Elise S2 (RoverPowered, Norway)

Firstmost i wold say this; Helloooo all Eliiiiisetalk members.

I'm a norwegian, so my english grammar is poor to sucky. *embarresed*

This is the story of my "Stock" Elise...

I took a ordinary Elise S2, then the headgasket started to leak gasses into my coolant system, and when that needed to be exchanged i thougt "why not get a slightly more powerboost aswell at the same time i had the car in my favouite workshop, and with a great ammount of help from the nice friendly german guys at KOMO-TEC (www.komo-tec.de) a bunch of new parts got installed.

(Stock power at the wheels 105hp/173nm)

List of goodies:

ヨhlins Road & Track 36HRC
Nylatron Brushes
Eliseparts Adj. Anti-Roll Bar / with Nylatron brushes
Eliseparts Adj. Droplinks
Pagid RS42 brakepads
Stock Disc's/Rotors
Stock Wheels/Rims
Oilcooler with remote oilfilter
Alloy "Motorsport" Radiator
5-speed close ratio race dog box (it does 62mph in 1.st gear)
"Stock" Lotus Rover 1.8 16v (Actually it is a race engine from a proper Motorsport Elise (thoose that looks like a S1 Exige, but with a Center Driving pos.)
Engine & Fuel Management by MBE Systems
8ltr Drysump with dual scavange pumps
80AH 12V battery (Sonnak Maxxima (dry cell))

More parts are on it's way....

Some pictures:

Motor-bay

Oilcooler right side:

Self Installed items ヨhlins Coilovers:

My picture cache on the net:

End power resullts:
(tuned down a bit from the race-spec, not a 100% racemap, but a hybrid "rich" safe map that wont destroy the engine, and rev limiter on 8200rpm)

202hp/184nm @ 8200rpm at hte rear wheels with a NA 1.8 rover-based engine. (race spec is 240hp, 8800rpm @ flywheel)

I really hope i "fit in" on this great forum, there arent so many big lotus places like this for a small timer lotus enthusiats from norway

Cheers.

PS Smack my monkey if you dont like me.. hehe... :P

Later this year i will try to reduce the mass of the car too...

The first goal is to lithgten it 50kg's (approx 100 lbs)

Todays wheight is 790kg race-ready with a full tank 'o fuel (under 1500 lbs)
The goal is 750kg's or less race-ready.
My dream is to get it down to 690kg, but that's too expensive.

New speedline (magnesium) wheels where ordered last week, cup-wheels from the race-car version, so now i play the waiting game again (!) .. hehe

Looks nice Kenny. But 790kg = 1738 lbs. It's next to impossible to get a S2 down to 1500 lbs.

It does not look like it was de tuned very much. 240hp at the crank can be 205 to 210 at the wheels.

Your English grammar is better than most Americans' English grammar

(I'm not kidding)

Thanks for the positive response.

My car had a mass of 780kg before i started to modify it. (with a ful tank of fuel)
It has put on some "pounds" since last, now it's at 790kg with a full tank of fuel, ready to drive/race.

The rover elises are lighter than Toyota-Elise, mine has no thing extra than a cd-player that's been shooken to death.. hehe..

No cup holder, no insulation, no soundproofing, no power windows, no abs, no traction control... but it came with a cd-player with 2 small speakers stock.

Per today, the cdplayer is not in the car anymore, the gearbox out noises the max volume on the "stock-stereo".

So i'm exited to see what the result will end on.

The engine was detuned a bit, safer ritcher map, lowered the rev limit from 8800 to 8200rpm, theese measures i think will increase the life for my engine.

So far so good, it's been kind to use for a raceengine.

Later this summer i can perhaps test-drive a TPE (Toyota-Powered Elise) on a track for compharison (for fun).

Anyways Elise is the car of my life, never owned a more enjoyable car before, its fun all the way trough.

Btw: how mutch does the US-Federal ELises usually wheigh? How mutch does you Elise wheigh?

Cheers

WOW 202 hp at the wheels with 1740 lbs of weight!!! That thing must be a rocket.

The Fed Elise isn't that much heavier then then it's overseas counterpart. I would venture to say between 50-100 lbs of additional weight for our cars in the US... could be less.

I'm back and this year i swapped out that race rover engine for something more durable and perhaps generally a better power platform.

The rover engine blew up on me by the way.. i think it was way way too gard tuned.. 220-240hp at crack on a rover k-series 1.8 litere is kinda naughty.. hehe

You see i got my hands on a slightly used JDM K20A and a JDM tranny to the K20A from the JDM Civic Type R...

Pictures will come as soon as i get my new camera, the last one got me soo maaad i smshed it.. hehe

Finishing up some electrics now, when that's done ill head on to a fella with some donyoack's and map the thing real good with a KPro hondata ECU.

Oh.. and one more thing.. theres is a part thats on its way in the mail too.. They called it a Rortrex... thingey.. *ebil laugh*

Thanks Dragon... I'll prolly need some new clamshells when i fire this beast of an engine up, i'we talked to some race heads that has allmost the same setup as me, and they say its insanley fast, so i'm allmost expecting to fly off the racetrack on trackdays and end up in the woods surrounding rudskogen (the track i usually hang out on).. hehe
