Thumbs up 2006 Elise Stage 2 videos

Finally had a chance to do it. Sorry guys, my camera does not have a great micro so the sound does not make it justice. But better than nada!

No full throttle either! Under 850 miles on the engine.

Start up:

Inside cabin open roof cruising

Pass by #1

Pass by #2

Thanks for doing that - I wish the manufacturers would produce the same thing so we'd have a better idea what the different exhaust systems sound like in the real-world.

Hi Ali,
Thanks so much for doing this, it really helps get a feel for the sound.

I think a Stage II is in my future!!!

Wow, I'm suprised how much that sounds like my Von Hep exhaust.

Very nice.

I'm surprised that people have complained that they're too loud and have changed back to stock or another aftermarket exhaust.

I ran my stock exhaust 2006 Sport for about 1500 miles and then changed to the stage II about a week ago. The clips shown give a pretty good idea of the sound. I would add these qualitative assessments. The note at start up has similar qualities to but is louder and deeper then stock...really more authoritative. This is not really captured in the videos (don't get me wrong...nice job on the videos...but there is nothing like being there. On acceleration, it is much louder then stock. At first I thought it was too loud because there is much more resonance in the cabin with the windows open or closed. However, like anything else, you get used to it. If you rev the engine and shift at about 5000 RPM, there is a great raspy crackle on throttle lift. Generally, there are pops and burbles that just could not be heard with the stock system. Sounds great in this respect. At steady cruise (60-70 mph on a level surface) there is not too much difference relative to stock in terms of cabin noise. However, any slight gas pedal pressure increase when going up hill or to accelerate, produces a loud open exhaust sound that make it hard to talk with someone. Forget about hearing the radio under these conditions.
I would not recommend this system if you use the car for daily driving and like to listen to the radio or talk at normal levels with a passenger.
If you use your car as I do......kind of like a motorcycle......for special rides and weekend fun, then it's a great sound improvement. I find I drive the car less aggressively because you don't have to punch it to make good sounds.
It's also lighter then stock. I checked with a scale and they are bout 10 LBS. different.

I like my Stage 2 as well, #3 is a Janspeed and it seems to have broken the cycle of defective welds. It sounded great before but really sounds awesome with my FF header now
