830 miles and I'm home

Just picked up my 2007 CO Elise with 3000 miles on it (touring, hard top, star shield, upgraded Alpine and more). Flew one way with my business partner from Hot Lanta to Dallas. Stayed one night, met the seller, closed the deal and off we went.
If anyone ever tells you to ship your car, don't!!!!. Drive the thing home. We did it in 13 hours. Yes it is not the most comfortable ride but it was fun. Hooked up the Ipod touch and we had instant tunes. Hit 120 MPH in Mississippi for a few seconds. No issues with the car it performed great.
When I got home at 12:30 AM, I was a little tired. Woke up this morning and the first thing my 6 year old son said to me is Daddy can I see the car. So I took him outside and told him to close his eyes. When he opened them, he said "Dad when I am a teenager, can I drive your car" I love it when a plan comes together. Conformation that my genes have passed on. Anyway, attached is a picture of it. Steve

Congrats . You'll love it. Make sure you take good care of it so that you can pass it down to your son. Thats what I'm planning to do.

I drove a one way rental car to Vegas and drove the Exige home. When I pulled into the garage around 9pm, my 4 year old son was giddy and dancing around with excitement.

2007 Elise

The car was owned by a guy that won it in a contest. I made an offer and he accepted. Took a few weeks but it's home now. I got a great deal. Steve

Hope to see you around Atlanta, especially the north side. Once things warm up the guys should be organizing a mountain run. Join us if you can. Also check out LLSE on Yahoo Groups. Congrats. Adam.

Steve,
Keep an eye in the regions forum, southeast. Sometimes we head up north of Dahlonega, Rt 129, 180, etc. Great group of guys, not all Lotus cars. Like I said also keep an eye on LLSE in Yahoo Groups. Today we met at Andrettis Speed Lab. Four of the guys went karting. Cars that showed up were 3 Elises, 1 Exige, 2 Esprits, 1 Viper, 1 Porshe. Also, we had a Lambo Roadster park with us but we never saw who the driver was. Enjoy your new CO. Before I forget, the first Sat of every month Caffine and Octane at the Avenue of East Cobb (Panera Bread Co). I think 8 am or so until 11 am. Large gathering of all kinds of cars. Adam.

Cool. Looking forward to meeting you soon. Now we can get 3 or 4 CO together at once. So is that front plate bracket off yet?

Texas law requires a front plate. I am going to drill out the rivets and pop that sucker off. Thinking about plugging the holes with some plastic caps. What have others done? Steve

I'm really glad you drove your car back home. It's definitely a good way to learn the car and the memories you get from the trip and all the anticipation are priceless experiences. I did the same - picked mine up in Houston, TX and drove back to PA with a friend. Fantastic time and I'd do it again in a heartbeat!

Welcome aboard, Stephen!

- Allen.

When you got home, did you find that your face really hurt and couldn't figure out why, then realized it's because you were smiling so much on the drive? That was my experience when I drove mine home from Colorado. Congrats.

Thanks for all the great posts

Thanks for the great posts. Got the car detailed today (washed and waxed). Looks great now. Also got it registered and applied for new title. Good to be part of this forum and a Lotus owner. Steve
