After about 9 months, my new baby is here!

Name: Elise
Full Name: 2006 Lotus Elise (or should it be Elise 2006 Lotus?)
"Bio" Data: Aspen White, Touring, StarShield, HardTop

My saga began more than 2 years ago as described in my first post in ET:
http://www.elisetalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27206

I'm happy to say that journey has a happy ending and a new journey has started when I drove her off the dealer's lot

After about 100 miles on my new Elise, my impressions remain unchanged - it's everything I wanted in a sports car - 'enough' power, light weight, small, nimble, spartan, etc. My other choice was Z4M Coupe or Roadster but those weigh a porky 33xx lbs. That's like strapping 2 full-size refrigerators to an Elise - imagine driving that!

Many thanks to ET and its members for sharing your knowledge and opinions which helped made my decision easier.

Here are pictures of her and her brother "Rex":

Looks great in White, can't go wrong. I don't like white cars but when I saw the white Elise in person I almost went that route! What is that on the right rear 1/4 in picture 2? Did you capture a wasp mid flight or is something on your car?

Haha you beat me... You should see them go after the Yellows ! Congrats on the new edition, I almost sent out a baby annoucment to my friends who know I never want kids

Name : Elise
Weight: 1975 lbs
Length

etc

yea, that was a wasp caught in mid-flight and no, both wasp and car were not hurt during the photo ops

smokin orange - can't wait until my break-in is over to experience the 2nd cam rush. In the meantime, "Rex" can help me with the addiction - I know the turbo rush is different.

Congrats! I like the white with the tan interior! I like the look of a white hard top too... Plus, white will hide the dirt well. Enjoy!!!!

White is nice on these cars, but I will probably go with orange or green. Heck, if I'm gonna have a car that stands out...it's gonna be way out of line.

very jealous of the Aspen White! I've been looking for an AW Elise for a couple months now hoping a lightly used one would pop up but I'm about to go to the dealer and just get one new because I'm getting impatient

Enjoy the car, looks amazing!

You're the perfect guy for a test I've been contemplating...

The gen3 RX7 engine swap. 255 silky smooth bhp in a 2000lb car. Plus, at 1.3L, it should have no problem fitting.

BTW, when are you going to have your cars painted. They're still blank canvas.

I looked into doing this as I have quite a long (current) history with the rotary. There are three large issues to deal with.
1. noise. The rotary is VERY loud.
2. Heat. Both the exhaust (1500 +- degree egt) and water are hard to deal with
3. Transmission. Something from a front drive Mazda may be adaptable but I haven't looked into it .

Hey guys, stop planting ideas in my head

Besides, what am I going to do (engine-wise) for my Rx7. The Elise's 1.8 won't.

Hmm, I won't say the rotary is loud. In fact my Rx7 sounds just a tad quieter than my stock elise.

But I agree with the other 2 points.

Pray share your experience with rotary and any transplants you might have performed.

You know, after driving a rotary for a while, it's hard to get used to a normal piston engine. The feel is not the same... I'd want a rotary option with my Elise too...
