Not even close to lightening yellow. I do have a gallon of Lighning yellow for sale though It was the first choice but just wasn't what I wanted.

There are 14 coates of paint on my car.

OK I finally (think) I got the pictures attached properly...
(The color change is kind of self explanatory)

Stark white - with a pearl on top - and clear over it all.
Then color sand the clear to get it back to flat - Polish - wax - put it back together.

Wow that white is almost exactly the color I want to paint an Elise. Do you happen to have the paint codes/brand the color that you used for the pearl white paint???

Good point !
Excuses are like A$$'oles... So here I go...:
1) I normally use a film camera, but I don't have a scanner.
2) The misses digital is pretty slow, and it was late in the afternoon/evening.

I'll take another at high noon if anyone wants to see it.

It is all Debeers (The Bear)...

De Base white is "MM 500 White" (This is stark white without any ochres or other grams of this-n-that, just pure "as the drivin snow" white)
Pearl is "Satin White Pearl Nissin QX3" (The lightest pearl I could find that looked about right)
Clear is "1-204 MS clearcoat" (Claimed to be a UV inhibitor so I have given the c/f that was looking chalky a once over after a light color sanding)

After primer, I used 2 or 3 white, 2 pearl, 3 clear... color sand the bugs out, then Polish, and wax.
The paints are what debeers recommended, and they (Debeers) were fairly helpful, so I can only say good things about them and their service.
I was going to go with Alsa, but the guy I was dealing with had a medical issue and everything went into standstill, and they were more geared towards professionals than knuckleheads - which also factored in...

The pearl is difficult because the color is influenced by the pearl coat thickness (I used 2 coats). My original plan was white with white metal flake (paint with pearl white sparkle pearl but it is more like a metal flake) - but I couldn't find it at the time - of course it was in the bag hanging off the study door all along.
But white is pretty forgiving compared to many other colors.

If you are doing this your self then you would save time by avoiding the pearl, and using a metal flake. And there are some other tips too...

The doors are a pain from all aspects, and the sills also require a lot of time - but less swearing than the doors.

Holmz thanks for all the great info. A good pearl paint job is very hard to pull off. If I recall black is the hardest color to do "perfect", followed by a clean pearl white little details are everything.

The pictures near sunset didn't help - but it is somewhat reflective.

But good eye!
It was shiny as could be... I then color sanded it, polished it, and waxed it. It almost seems like the waxed surface is acting like an AR (anti reflection coating). May I need to polish it again - I dunno (I would welcome some thoughts on the subject??? - I am no painter and no polisher - so this was all new to me.)

Sydney... There is another thread with the weight of it (Maybe from ~6 month ago)
I had to get mesh, Paint it, cut it, and bond it in.
I am not overly in love with it, but I needed a cover.
It is good in the fact that the whole think pops off as the hinges are replaced with pins. You undo the latch lift it up ~2-3" slide it back, then it is totally off.
Opened up the wing options - I am not sure how you keep a wing on the car when it is on the lid???
Plan is to perhaps do something different - but it is not a priority...

Thats for the compliment, but I describe it like I do 'my friend's' 2AM prospects...
Good from a far, but far from good.

It is better than it was though!
