The Elise has a 1.8 liter 4 cylinder and weighs less than a ton. If you baby the gas pedal, you could probably achieve those numbers. (However, it wouldn't be much fun.)

It's about right for my 06 Exige for interstate and typical. But I have to try hard to get below 25mpg in stop and go, and I kinda have a leadfoot.

It's like the top gear Prius VS M3 episode. Sometimes its more driving style than what you drive.

That's almost spot on for my 2005 Elise... I average around 27 mpg but get 31-32 if I just drive it like a normal car.

Here's my daily:

2000 HONDA INSIGHT - 1 Litres, 3 Cylinders, Regular Gas, Manual 5 Speed, FWD <
> Leadfoot: 43.2 mpg | 18.4 km per litre | 5.4 litres per 100 km <
> Stop&Go: 60.2 mpg | 25.6 km per litre | 3.9 litres per 100 km <
> Hypermiler: 119.8 mpg | 51.0 km per litre | 2.0 litres per 100 km <
> Typical: 71.3 mpg | 30.3 km per litre | 3.3 litres per 100 km <
> Interstate: 75.8 mpg | 32.3 km per litre | 3.1 litres per 100 km <
> Grandma: 83.4 mpg | 35.5 km per litre | 2.8 litres per 100 km

Those are normal numbers for us.

The tank includes about 50% over 70 mph, 20% over 80mph and 10% over 100mph. A few miles at 125. I fill until it clicks, then add about another 1.2 gallons. I typically fill it until I see fuel, let it settle (into the canister, I think) and repeat a few times.

I put it in the second cam at least 12 times/day.

With low RR tires (aired to max)and hypermiling, this car could do more than their numbers, easily.

If someone slapped an efficient engine in there, the mpg would be unreal.

During the break-in period for my 08 S 240, I acheived 34.4 MPG. I routinely get ~30+ since.

How the eff do you get more than 26 MPG. 26 is the magic number for my car. I only get less on the track.

I typically average 22-23 but have never gotten over 25 even in nearly complete highway driving at 75 mph in both an 05 Elise and 07 Exige S.

To really get your average, you need to be doing 1000 (or more) averages.

Single tanks can vary widely because its so hard to fill the same way, even with the same pump. Just too many variables.

This car gets better mileage at 85 than 65.

Oh yea, we've also got the taller 6th gear, which should help.

Just filled up after burning through most of a tank at a track day and then about 40 miles of other driving. 16.4 mpg.

I'd say these numbers are pretty accurate. I've averaged 8.49 l/100km since I got the car this spring and now have just over 6000 km on it. That includes one track day and several solo II events.

that's rather impressive.

I seem to average 23mpg on average, which I'd say is just average combined city/freeway driving, not too heavy, but an occasional 2nd cam.

I don't quite understand the different figures they post between 2005 -2008 models, - since it's the same engine you'd think they'd be identical (and they lump Elises and Exiges together like the Exiges don't have superchargers??)

and what they hell is a hypermiler? and how could that possibly be better than Interstate at 60mph??
