I don't want that bracket myself, as I don't have any intention of using a radar detector and I have a harness bar anyway. But dangit I want SOMETHING that looks that cool! Can you just laser cut and brush finish a piece of scrap for me?

Of course I can, but then it's no longer a functional piece, and that I belive is called art then...
I'll have to charge at least $2500 for that

I see you finally posted that V1 bracket of yours. If I didn't already have mine, I would have been your first test bunny. For those that are buying this item, I'd like to tell you that it's very hand crafted, great design and super light weight.
So this is what you do at work all day.

Hey PT!
Yes, I finally posted a picture after having the brackets sitting in my garage for quite some time now. I wanted to wait until I had the time to install my V1.

From looking at your car I'm pretty sure that my bracket would also work with the harness bar. We might have to try it sometime...

And hey, there has to be one benefit of being a designer...

Since the question probably comes up:

I put one of the brackets including hardware on a scale, and it is 74 grams or 2.61 ounces.

I'll let you know, I've got a 4Tress™ Harness Bar and it looks like it will work.

Mine works with the 4tress harness bar. I need to post a pic, but suffice it to say, it works.

I finally got around to installing the bracket that Steve, Mr. C, made, it looks great and works great. Steve provide an instruction sheet and all the mounting hardware. I have a 4Tress™ Harness Bar from sector 111 and it works great with it as was already mentioned. here's some pics of my install before I finished the hard wire. I originally was thinking about painting it black but the aluminum looks really nice with the interior. Here's the pics:

Did you have any problems with the pieces you had to glue in ? My holes did not line up correctly and made that part quite difficult. I also accidentally pushed one of the anchor's through back and was almost unable to get it out. I'm currently looking into finding a new way to anchor the piece, as I didn't like the stock way.

The piece looks amazing though, I definitely want to use it.

The well nuts are a little tricky. I first glued them with some silcone adhesive I had laying around but that didn't work too good. What I did in the end was to put some thick felt pads, 1/8" thick, on the back of the bracket that made it sit a little firmer and made it wobble less, see the picture below. then I threaded the well nuts just a little way onto the mounting bolts just enough that they were starting to swell and made for a tight squeeze into the mounting holes. That kept them from spining when you tighten them the rest of the way. The felt pads helped firm up the mount quite a bit.

Pixlpush,

that with the felt is a good idea. I'll have to try that on mine to see if it sits firmer.
Looks great in your car!

I was surprized about the problems which JRIVA had.
I used the mounting screw and threaded it into the well nut a few turns so it was like a handle.
In my case I used a tiny bit of super glue, and the well nuts still grip after assembling and disassembling it a few times.
I can see how getting the well nut in place might be a bit difficult when the holes in the inner black liner don't line up 100% with the holes in the firewall...
But it helps when you have the screw as a handle and a small screwdriver to push them underneath the liner.

Hi djnameless,

unfortunately I just took them off last Friday without taking pictures.
I put my silver ones back on for now because the black rims got damaged during shipping, and I have to get them powder coated again...

But I'll hopefully get them back on soon.....

I finally got the time to take a pic of the V1 bracket installed. I, too, had used some velcro on the back of the bracket to keep things firmly in place.

Thanks for the tip with the felt pads!
I found some black pads at Home Depot yesterday which look like they would work.
I'll install them today on my bracket to see if it makes a difference...

Hi Max -

I have one of these from Mr C and I love it -- for it's design purpose: to mount a radar detector. It is an elegant piece of design and manufacture but will reguire some further refinement for your purpose. It is not rigid enough to be suitable for camera mounting unless you design some triangulation to add the rigidity needed for a steady camera mount.

You can probably find a dedicated mount that is easier to obtain and less expensive...certainly less trouble for your intended purpose. Check with Randy at ChaseCam to see what he has that would be useful.

hi Bob, i thank you.
Mr.C. already wrote me in answer.
i don't know if will be ok for my cam-recorder, you have to consider my camcorder is not heavy (what is the contrary of heavy ? light ?); it's a Canon FS 100, very little and not heavy.
i looked for a different brackets or similar things to obtein a decent result but i think the item of Mr.C. is great estetically too (especially in black).
i don't like solution with suckers on glass.
i can understand the bracket of Mr.C. has to be fixed better with some velcro or some refinement but i think it's ok.
i am little worry now about you tell me it's not so rigid due to no triangulation adding rigidity but i wait to have the item in my hands to study the problem.

I intended to use it with my camcorder as well...but I just haven't been able to get the camcorder to stay on it 100% yet. Eventually I'll get a harness bar and get a clamp mount.

You may be able to steady the camera with a Velcro fastener to the glass behind. Very simple, light, and easy to obtain. Good luck. Please report back and let us all know how it works. (BTW, my compliments: I wish I had a mastery of any second language as good as your use of English.)

thank you Bob
i not yet own the bracket, so it's impossible to find now a way to fix the camera, you know the idea will arrive once you have the item in the hands... but i think the better way it's to fix the camera with the standard method of other photographic-bracket, i mean, every camera has under the body the standard hole where you can insert a screw to fix it in the bracket, so i maybe consider to practice a center hole in the little platform of Mr.C. bracket and voilà les jeux sont faites
no velcro, no tapes, nothing.
maybe some velcro behind the bracket to prevent to damage the black part of lotus (so close to the little light of the car near the n.2 screws) where the bracket is in contact.
