Looking at the pictures perhaps some loose gravel played a part

Wow. This stinks. Hopefully the insurance company will total it out and reduce your heartache. I hope you keep a Lotus. Im in the market, and in the area (FK, IN) and planned on seeking you out when I get my car. What area was your crash?

My condolences. The way the rear piece of the clam separated would make it prime garage wall art to keep as a memento if you can get it (You'd have to finish tearing it across to the other side).
I'm concerned with the way the right rear wheel is pointing in the first picture. I notice in your list of mods that you list a lidbone but it looks like you're using the stock prop in the pictures. Did you have problems with the lidbone?

its totaled. If the front and rear clam is damaged they will usually total it. I had a dodge 2500 just back up and hit my front clam with a trailer hitch. Could not have been moving 1 MPH in reverse. Anyway, came to $16,000. The insurance company tried to say it was $10,000, but the final bill was $16 and the insurance had to pony it up.

what matters is that you are Ok.
you have insurance on the car for a reason. dont be worried unless you have a huge deductable. also be glad this did not happen while out on the track. material things are not important, they are nice, but the fact that you are unhurt is really all that matters. move forward; enjoy shopping for your new car, that one looks like its done.

Hate to see this. Insurance will most likely total it, salvage it, and sell it. A few months later it will be on eBay with a salvage title after being rebuilt with "minor damage suffered in a mild, single car accident." Hard to tell the extent of the damage, but the way the right side rear wheel is toed out in the second pic indicates more than just fiberglass. Funny thing is I almost spun mine today. I was coming around an on ramp and there was a Harley rider camped out on the half off the shoulder about 3/4 of the way through the curve screwing around with a saddlebag. Natural reaction is to get out of the gas and the rear end got loose. Any faster and I might not have been able to countersteer it.

Oh, it's totaled. And not because of the clams, rather the front crash structure and the rear passenger suspension. Look in the first pic at the toed in wheel. There's suspension damage there. Sorry, glad you're okay and this is what insurance is for...
