I got the strong feeling that the owners purposely left flashy cars (not many Lotus' in that area at all) on there to help attract attention to their little lot. So yeah, if you are ever in the market for a car and find one at Diamond Motors in Pensacola Florida, stay away from it.
I realize that I'm replying 4 months late, but. That's funny. When I was looking for my Elise, I actually bought an Elise from him. I signed his purchase orders, faxed him a copy of the cashiers check from my loan dispersement and booked a flight to Pensacola (also faxed him a copy of my flight itenerary). I received a fax from the owner the day before I was supposed to fly to P-cola telling me that he sold the car to someone else (for more money). He didn't even have the nuts to call me in person. "He broke up with me by fax". Crooks! The funny thing is, after I bought my Elise, I saw his Elise back on Autotrader/Ebay. His buyer had flaked, and the car was back on the market. The best part was that he was asking $2500 less than I had agreed to pay. Frankly, the only thing that made me angry were the comments he made when I called him. He told me "tough sh!% it's the car business" and to go f%(# myself. I was flabbergasted, especially since I'm in the car business! I couldn't imagine ever telling a customer anything like that (even the customers that deserve it). I'll say it again. Diamond Motors and Bill Weatherall are crooks and scumbags.

Cheers.

Sorry!

Oh man, Shaggy, I was really sorry to see those photos this morning. I'm glad to read that you did not suffer any physical injury though. For the last week or so I've been on cloud nine almost reaching a final decision to do the deed and buy a new Elise. I've spent hours looking at webpages that folks have posted about their cars - yours among them of course. I've watched endless videos, read all I could find about the Elise, her history, development, problems, and strong points. I've talked to dealers and mechanics. I'd even begun to consider what mods I'd like to make and consider what new tools I might need for my shop. I finally reached the point at which that I felt like I could make this auto purchase the first one in my life that could be completed without even the slightest degree of buyer's remorse and I was itching to get my new Elise home and on these contorted country roads. Then this morning, I register for this forum and what do I find .... Nothing less than a sight that plundged me firmly back to earth under the coldest of showers. One look at the tag on your car and I thought - "Wait, Oh No, I knew that car!" My old psyche is crushed under the stress and shattered like the clam of your Kr-558 nm (KG) Elise.

Seriously though, glad you're okay! I need to work on my own resolve now.

I had a horrible experience with Bill Weatherall as well. he sold me an Elise that he didn't have the title too (said it was paid for and he was expecting it any day). He then took two months to pay off my trade in even though he has sold it within a week of me making the deal. He floats titles and everyone in the Lotus community should stay away from this guy. I had to file a formal complaint with the state of Florida DMV and threatened to go after his dealer bond before he sent me the title to the Lotus and paid off my trade in.

He lied to me repeatedly. I thought since he ran a dealership, it was safe for me to trade in my car. My credit could have been ruined by this jerk off.

It was a horrible experience.

Woah, now I'm kinda glad that he didn't have an Elise there when I went to check it out. I thought it was bad enough that most of the cars were noticeably dirty and undetailed but hearing these stories makes it that much worse.

I may post the two comments along with my experience on my blog to help others avoid a shady dealer.
