Exige/Elise Mirrors

Good evening, I am working on a project that involves modifcation to the rear view mirror and was wondering if any of you could tell me if the diffetent models use different mirrors or if they are pretty universal across the range. I'm looking to pick up a mirror or two to test with and want to make sure I am testing on the current mirror that is applicable to most cars.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Chris.

There are actually two possibilities for mirrors. The '05 - very early '07 cars (both Elise and Exige) had the incredibly huge mirrors that fit on a "T" shaped mounting plinth glued to the windshield. These mirrors are removed by releasing a clip and sliding the mirror base off the plinth. The rest of the '07 cars to present have a smaller mirror that uses a more conventional mounting plinth. The mirrors are not interchangeable due to the different mounting plinths unless you were to remove and replace the plinths from the windshield. Here are some photos of an early plinth partially installed on a mirror base:

I have been selling a smaller mirror kit for the early cars for a few years now For Sale: Smaller rear view mirror kits so if you need any dimensions or details on the early plinths, just let me know.

Thanks, I really appreciate you taking the time to add so much detail. The mod Iam looking at doing is to embed the display for a radar detector in to the mirror, as such I'd want it to be applicable to as many models as possible rather than having to mess around with all different mirrors.

It looks like a lot of people favor that little after market mirror, maybe that would be a good basis for me to start.

My kits only work with the early cars and I do not have an adapter to use the aftermarket mirror on the newer cars. If you want to try fitting one your displays into one of my aftermarket mirrors, I would be happy to give you all the details on the mirror. Just PM me.
