F430 against an Exige? Please explain...

http://www.automobilemag.com/reviews...ige/index.html

Can someone explain to me why they did this?

Anyways.... I noticed the writers complaint about the noise. I am a soon-to-be Elise/Exige (Wife want the Elise, I want the Exige.. grrr...) and when I test drove the Elise, yea there was noise but it wasnt an "echo chamber"...

Your thoughts....

Anyone have a an Exige/Elise in the St. Pete area that is Storm Titanium with black wheels? Let me know... I would take Rachel's white one but my wife has her heart set on Storm T.. Sorry Rachel.

To show how little the extra $150,000 gets you.

That was a great article. I think what it says is that both companies do what they do very well. If you think an Exige is is the same class as an F430 you are delusional. If you think the Exige is unworthy to be compared to the Prancing Pony you are more concerned with the name than the drive. I wouldn't trade my Elise for anything (well, perhaps a couple of vintage cars I can think about, but that's another thread), but I'd take the Ferrari any day. At the end of the day I'd love the $200K car, but I'd rather have an Elise, an Exige, an Ariel Atom and half the mortgage.

I don't see that it is a problem comparing the two, you'd be surprised to know that there are quite a few F-car owners amongst us here. You can't be the fab factor of an F-car, but it simply isn't as practical as a Lotus a constant track day companion if you like tracking a lot.

If I had unlimited funds I'd have a Carrera GT rather than an F-car. I met a guy who has them all, Enzos, 575, Stradale 430 race car, GT3 Cup car, a pair of Zondas, and he says the best of all of them is the C-GT. He races both his F & P-cars too, and has mad money to buy-try everything, so I'm good to take his word on it.

I heard from a different guy that has them all that the best one was a car made in the 90s with the seat in the middle.

You mean the one with the seat in the middle and two in the back?

The best one is clearly a 1978 Chevy LUV pickup. Clearly.

The noise is a problem? I love it, I'm just glad they didn't charge me extra for it. Heck at the sacrifice of performance I've even added that joke of an intake the Fujita with no other benefit than glorius noise. On my bike I paid a lot extra for the pipe to make the extra music. Bring the noise!!!

I don't have them all, but of the all the cars of the modern era, that's the one I want.

IMO you need both because they are very different. The Lotus is a great street car because you can have alot of fun and it's fast on roads where the speeds are under 80 mphs whereas the Ferrari IMO really doesn't start to get fun until you are over 80 which is too fast for street driving. The Lotus is not a highway flyer but instead a backroad burner.

IMO if you buy a Lotus, you pay for the car. If you buy a Ferrari, you pay for the name.

And if you want the full name (ENZO FERRARI) you pay a lot more. like $650,000 MSRP+.

I would like to see that same comparo except this time with a FF R340 Exige. Now that would be interesting.

Actually, that would not be much of a comparo, let's make the Exige a FF275 instead.
