Getting Tires to track days while driving it, Options??

Like it says, over the winter I'm exploring options. If you have found a way to fit 3 inside and 1 over engine bay, I'm interested!

Does anyone know if one can quick disconnect the bar once you get to the track?

BOE tow bar

All you have to do to remove the tow bar is loosen the two front bolts and remove the two rear bolts and you are done. They can be reached easily with the car sitting on the ground or jacked up during the tire change. With the BOE bar towing is very easy and you can travel without the tires in or tied to the car.

Takes a whole 60 seconds to detach... 2 minutes to reattach.

I've been there at least a dozen times watching Phil do it.

Until I get a trailer the toe bar option seems a good way to go. Phil, What is the shipping out to SoCal?

Will the tow bar work with a tire tail or can the Lotus not support that much tongue weight?

That's pretty slick. +1 on wanting to be more of a track junkie to justify that.

HAVE NO FEAR!!!

In an attempt to encourage those with doubts about towing behind a car as small as the Lotus, I will submit the attached photos. I built the trailer to haul two to three race karts, tools, ten gallons of fuel, full cooler, EZ-Up, etc. etc. etc. or I could remove the top, keep the storage compartment up front and haul a motorcycle.

I was hauling it behind a stock 1991 Miata (sold the car, kept the trailer). 112 HP, weighed probably about 2200. Tongue weight was usually about 100 pounds.

My longest tow was 150 miles each way, going from sea level to about 4000' along the way.

I drove sanely, but was often in the 70 range. It would run 75 easily, but that seemed to be flaunting the law a little too much.

Keep in mind that you can buy a 5000 pound sport ute that has a towing capacity of 7500 pounds. Our cars have very large tires, brakes and engines compared to their weight.

I never had a single problem.

Get the hitch!!

Here is an entire thread on the BOE bar:
BOE TOWING BARS- VERY limited Supply

It was an easy install, hour or so. You need a Modulite unit (local travel trailer supply) to get the lights to work properly.

Works great. I have been on two hour trips, 70-80MPH without issue.
