Hi all and especially qball Karl.

We saw your popular thread on the dropping of your beautiful car, well you know its not ///M3 beautiful, but I am sure it is still nice in its own way.

J/K J/K all of us M guys love the Elise but we really covet the Exige

It was at first quite funny in the fact it was funny in a sad sorta way. We were all curious at first at your somewhat obtuse response, then we went on to read Hunters story. God bless that kid. Hunter broke alot of hearts over at our place. We have many medical professionals on our forum , myself included. Actually we are moderated by the Godfather of the M3F Dental Mafia, Dr Evil. The poly issues Hunter endured at delivery was very devestating and from what it sounds, the core reasoning behind these issues is still unresolved. I am not here to rehash the sad story I am sure well known to the Elsie family here.

God bless you Karl, your wife and that great sounding young man Hunter. I hope the car gets fixed to yours and Lotus satisfaction in the near future.

Just took a look at the thread over on your forum. It's nice to see another forum that conducts itself with the same class and sense of decorum I've grown to appreciate on ET. Sure there are always exceptions, but I've seen some real ugliness on other boards since Q had his misfortune. to the class acts over on M3.

Could you please answer this question as again we are all very interested in what the heck the 3 v-shaped vents are on the underside of the car ?

The under tray of the Elise is very F1ish looking, very cool. Anxiously awaiting your answer. I hope looking at the pic doesnt hurt too much haha.

they are plastic inserts into the alum undertray, the bottom is very f1 it is flat from front to rear, leading into the rear diffuser, most cars have this stuff for looks, it actually works on this car.

Interesting stuff. So they are NACA ducts pretty much ?? are they cooling anything in particular like the rear brakes or rear diff ??

The underside of the M3 is about as sexy as the underside of a Buick.

The oil coolers are in the front of the car, these force air into the engine compartment at the bottom on the oil pan area, cool in hot out the top, plus the side vents work too, lotus commented that all the cars vents and ducts are functional except the two on the rear light pannel are just cosmetic. The car is a very functional design.

Thanks we try to be THE flagship forum for the ///M series. We do not allow a "kill section" , street racing BS and have a no tolerance policy on personal attacks. We distance ourselves from the tools at E46Fanatics and a lesser extent Bimmerforums.

Of course alot of the cool kids like me that sit in the back of the school bus have to go over to our private M3 porno site.

Tim's a pretty smart cookie. If you do take some time to search around the site, you will find great tifbits on aero, suspension, etc., much of it relating back to the car's F1 roots. A good place to start is by clicking on the "Elisetalk" logo, then selecting "Library." Enjoy!

Yeah I have an appt w/ PB Motorcars next week to test drive an Elise

I will also get to on the AM V8's they have on the floor as well as the Veyron. No word on if my test drive on that has been approved. I doubt my credit score will swing me a ride in the Bug. Veyon though.

I currently bum around in my modded up M3 and STI, I think I am too fat for y'alls little rocket. I raced an Elise in my STI and it gave me a run for my money and themn some.

Uh oh, now you're in real trouble. My test drive consisted of turning right out of the parking lot and right at the next street before looking over at Abe (Lotus of South Bay) and saying, "I'll take it!" So much for negotiating skills.

I am sure my M will feel like a pig when I get back in it.

I test drove a Z06 , the C5 flavor. I punched it in 3rd and was like OMFG so this is what TQ is !! I got back in the M and thought the motor was busted.

I joke all the time about my E36 Dakkar Yellow M3 handling like a school bus, of course I am totally kidding about it, but compared to the elise it does feel heavy. It can also feel like a stretch limo when reversing because the car is so much longer than the liz. Still love the old gal and she does feel faster than the elise even though it is not. The M3 has much better torque and pins you to your seat more so off the line. Get the elise into the 2nd cam and it pulls pretty hard as well though. The cam switch feels like your being rear ended!

Have fun with your test drive, hope you get a car that has been broken in so you can take it to redline

Looks good without the non-functional fake vents. I believe yours and Rachel's are the only Elises with the filled-in fake vents.
