Haters

I got my first thumbs down today from a car crossing in front of me at an intersection. He looked pretty serious doing this as I smiled. This first negative response in 2 1/2 years was very amusing but makes me wonder what's to hate about our cars.

I am going to guess he would fall in to one of 2 hater categories. If he was driving a Prius then he probably thought your car was a V10 gas guzzling Italian super car and gave you the environmental thumbs down. If he was in a Dodge Ram pickup truck with Nascar stickers then I would guess you got the buy American you unpatriotic foreigner lover thumbs down.....

Last time I took the Elise out I got the "finger" quite a lot. Most from Porsche owners and even an Atom...

Of course this was on a track and they were pointing me by!!!

not sure if it's a lotus hater thing or just a 'life with a convertable' thing... yesterday, when leaving fry's electronics in sunnyvale, I went out to my car in the parking lot and found some trash stuffed into the inside door handle. *shrug*

Once in my 01 Miata I had a big gulp thrown into my car @ 45mph. then the guy followed me all over town, until I got a cpl blocks from the police station.

I was pissed, but I was smaller than he, and didn't want to get my rear end kicked by a psycho.

I guess my face irritates people, I'm the guy that every time I go into a bar at least one big mofo tries to fight me. I've luckily always been able to walk away w/o throwing a punch, but strange none the less. (this was an issue in college, not so much anymore as I can't remember the last time I stepped into a bar)

One month with the car... and got my first hater today. Went shopping in the middle of the afternoon, very few cars in the parking lot. I parked a couple spots away from the other few cars that were there, but not that far out - and the entire rest of the parking lot was empty. I come out a little later and there's a Chevy hatchback (Aveo maybe? didn't pay attention) covered in Green Peace/Environmental/SaveTheEarth bumper stickers that decided to park right next to my driver side door. They left just enough room for me to get in, but they definitely parked that close on purpose - leaving lots of spaces open that were closer to the shop. I was tempted to wait for them to come out and tell them the car gets 26mpg and to get a f'in clue, but I had better things to do.

Also had a pickup truck that seemed to come to a halt and creep along well under the speed limit when I got behind him, but I've had that happen on this same road no matter what car I drive.

If someone in front of you hits the brakes, and constantly looks at you through the rear view is probably not a hater, but a car enthusiast. Then you flipped him off.

that depends. If his car was directly behind the braking vehicle, then the guy was hating. If the Lotus was in either lane along side him and braking, then maybe an lover. LOL

Besides why would you brake in this situation anyway? Doesn't make sense to me unless dude was hating.

The main reason I got ride of my favorite motorcycle. Honda 954RR. I could not go any where with out a cop following me at one point or another. Haters hate on anything and everthing. ITs not just the fact its an elise. I get people hating on my frikn impreza TS its a damn wagon yet I get teens always tryning to get me to race. Road hogs that drive 10+ under the speed limit but accelerate at the hashed lines. Most of these people are just A-holes to begin with. You could behind them in a pinto and they'd act the same. I had an under cover cop almost run me off the road while on my motorcycle cause I thought it was some stupid kid in a black transam trying to race. Ended up being a constable in an unmarked car. I mean totally blacked out he had these two little dinky lights that were barely visible. Ya I say Cop haters are the worse. I got a ticket from one cause he thought my car was to loud. All opinion nothing illegal about it.
