Well it's an official Guinness World Record 0-186mph 13.63 seconds

This time with the video

It's also 8 seconds faster then the Bugatti Veyron to 200 mph

Perhaps it's just me, that record (like that car) is just so insanely uninteresting to me.

Kinda like all the ESPN fluff around Brees 'setting the record for consecutive games with a touchdown pass'.

In both instances, my response was 'ok, fine. Whatever'

I don't understand how this record counts. This is not a production car. It is a heavily moded and tuned Lotus Exige. If someone tuned and moded a Veyron or an Agera it would be faster and still wouldn't be the fastest production car because it also wouldn't be a production car.

I just read the footnote.

Apparently, it's also in the Guiness Book for most money paid for a car with fewer bespoke parts, as well as the record for the only $1M car with less than 7 hours of engineering time.

Its truley pathetic that lotus owners hate on this car. Without it, lotus will never achieve any record, other than the most lost races at the stop lights. The reality of Lotus is that it is just a pretty face, no performance. At least we can now say that a modified Lotus made a worlds record. Thanks to Hennessey.

Why is it pathetic? It's no longer a Lotus.

More importantly, it's an irrelevant stat. One that will be eclipsed by another car soon

I just think it's funny how twisted people get about it... I think it's just interesting, fun to see when what money can do and is kinda cool. It's not like I'm buying one soon so I don't get to upset about it lol

Sitting in my stock non-super-charged Elise, I'm pleased that a modified Lotus set a record. Good call Kitty.

Are you sure about that? From what I am seeing the Venom weighs around 2750 pounds and has up to 1244 bhp. Gallardos weigh anywhere from 3150 to 3350 pounds and the R-version of the Under Ground Racing TT kit can produce over 1500 whp.

The power/weight is very similar on the two. Also, isn't the Elige body style notorious for not being very aerodynamic?
