How do I defeat the "beep"

My battery died (OK, I forgot to plug in the battery maintainer while I was gone for a few weeks) and ever since I charged it back up, when I use the alarm, I get an annoying beep from the front of the car. I know it's probably a great feature to know that you pushed the button (or to locate your car in a parking lot), but I'd love to disconnect it.

I've searched the forum and have been unable to find how to make it stop. Anyone able to locate the secret code for me? I will claim stupidity at use of search functions. But I did reread the owner manual and the alarm manual and still couldn't find it. The key and alarm still work correctly, but the beep when I unlock the door is sort of annoying.

Once again, thanks in advance for the help.

Steve

You might find that in the Uberthread under Modifications page or PM "TheViper" on this forum - He is a wealth of information on the ins and outs of our quirky little car!

I have the same thing and would also like to know how to disable it. It's pretty loud, and I can tell when the doors are locked without it.

Deactivate Buzzer: Press button “A” within 5 seconds of connecting power (by pulling fuse F11).

Hi Michael -

Can you enable the buzzer by doing the same when it is not already enabled? I'd like to have the chirp...

Yes, and you can also change the volume by entering the program mode. Follow my instructions for "programming for active arming Remote Key Fob & Immobilizer Programming and then:
Buzzer volume
When you are in the function table, turn the ignition key OFF and ON to enter the buzzer
volume program. The LED will inform you by 3 long blinks that you are in the buzzer volume
table:
Press the radio control ‘A’ button to increase the volume and button ‘B’ to decrease. Every time
you press a button the buzzer will sound to let you check the new volume level.
