I drove to R/T from Arizona to Missouri last July to surprise my mom on her 75th birthday. Left July 4th. Drove 2 days to Missouri (~1250 miles). Stayed 2 days then drove home. About 2800 miles in 6 days. Longest day was about 850 miles. Averaged about 35 mpg. Top speed was on US 60 in New Mexico... 2 lane with virtually no traffic

Two weeks ago flew to John Wayne airport (Orange County CA) and picked up my first Elise (THANX Gideon). Drove 8 hours straght that Friday and jumped back in Saturday Morning for 15 hours. Total miles 2463 according to mapquest. Never even test drove an Elise before that. Great way to get aquainted with the car. I have loved every minute since!

I must say that I've never enjoyed driving any street car more than the Elise.

But, when trying to convince a woman to come on a trip (i.e. out of chloroform), it's off-putting when I mention that only one of us can bring makeup.

After my wife and I had gotten married, we were driving to Austin and I put my hand on her knee. She looked at me and said, "You know, we're married now, so it's not wrong to go farther."

So I kept on driving and we ended up in Dallas.

Dang you guys are doing this on A048's?! It would probably be cheaper to fly!

If I had to do a long road trip I'd probably put my factory wheels back on and get some quiet(er) street tires.

Talking California to Virginia and back

In October of last year my wife and I drove from the Palms Springs area of California to Roanoke Virginia and back. We spent a two week vacation. Thats somewhere in the vacinity of 5200 miles. We had a great time. We had never been to Virginia but we liked it so much that we bought land in Pembroke. We will be moving in about six to eight years to semi retire. Yes we are both in our fifties. Just cant get enough of the Elise.
