Talking how important is LSD to you?

in an Elise that doesn't have it, will I miss it? How much will it matter on a track, acceleration, etc?

Any experienced trackers here? It's such a light car..

Thanks guys

How important is LSD?

It was a lot more important to me in college than it is now.

i was like wooooaaa. and he said "maannnn" and then i was like duuddeee and he said... he... i forget what he said man, but it was cool.

on the track for me, in my elise, i have been very happy to NOT have any LSD - seriously though, not needed and could be (this horse will never be beat to death) worse off with it. higher HP and tighter cornes it becomes more of an issue in competition. my wooden nickle of an opinion

If you want to fishtail, then get LSD. I wish mine came with LSD. I cant fishtail, because the inside tire is spinning, and the outside tire has too much traction to slide. LAME!

Talking

I don't have it and would not want it. It's extra parts I don't need. If I was really into autocrossing (low speed driving around tight controlled corners) I might look at it. But on the highway, awound town or on a track it doesn't help. So why bother with the extra weight, more pieces to break, etc.

If I'm not mistaken, assuming you aren't going to be racing autocross competitively, their could be a slight disadvantage with it. But you need to be in a competitive situation to notice.

These cars are absolutely great, in their lightweight, minimal part configuration. But I will admit, I've got the itch for the supercharger. So take what I say with a grain of salt.

This was all the rage when I was younger...
If you lived in Austin in the 80's and saw any of these, there's a good chance we might know each other.

Had both, the LSD is extremely helpful autoxing. It also is a lot of fun on the street, especially with the T/C off. Slide, catch. Slide, catch. Throttle steering corners is a blast.

I'm very pro LSD.

In my 1600 pound Spec Racer, with just 105hp, I still wish I had an LSD because I can run out of traction on the unweighted wheel. (of course, we're not allowed to run one).

but if I could have one, I would, that for sure!

Last time I drove hard with LSD I almost crashed. Honestly, I do it a lot better sober.

Back OT, it can help to power out of slow speed corners, so if that is an issue (driving in the mountains, auto x) then it is worth it's weight in gold.

Per fishtailing, you can do that with an open diff car. You just need to break rear traction first then add power, as power alone wont always break the back tires loose (it will just spin the inside rear while the outside rear grips).

I have it it in my Exige S now, but I won't order it again. For mostly street, I think you have a better chance of avoiding a spin without it.

All the RWD sports cars I've owned had LSD until the Elise so we'll find out in March at the first event. I think if you autocross and don't have LSD you better have a big front bar or stiff springs though.

I've never been sideways or backwards more than with LSD. I may wish for traction control when I get the Katana installed, but LSD just doesn't seem to be a necessary option unless I completely forget how to modulate a throttle.

LSD and Traction Control are almost useless on the Elise.
