This is a similar poll "How many times do you TRACK your Lotus". This poll indentifies why you bought your Lotus. Your reasons and purpose. Please specify in your text. Thanks!

My Lotus hates my bike.

What for?
Me. Me. Me. Oh yeah, and Me. Did you buy it because of it's performance? - acceleration? Yes, not as fast as some of my other cars have been, but fast enough - braking? The best braking car I've owned, period. - handling? The best handling car I've owned, period. What's funny is you don't have to take it to the track to appreciate any of the things I've mentioned above. Is it because you think it's a pure sportscar? - Hell yes, one of the few out there. It's got everything you need, and nothing you don't this is somewhat subjective as the hardcore Sport-pack only folks can assure you.Did you buy it for its looks? - no, but I consider this as an incidental side-benefit, not a personal requirement. Afterall looks are subjective, some people actually think the Ariel Atom or Lotus 7 (or derivatives/replicas) are ugly, but I think both are smokin hot |

Hmmm. The honest answer becomes too complex to bore you with.
The simple answer: This car is perfect for me in every way.

I bought my Lotus for:
Looks, driving enjoyment, handling characteristics, exclusivity, fuel economy vs. fun factor and how it made me feel like I was a race car driver even though I'm not very impressive on a track. Every time I squeeze into the car I get the largest grin on my face. From my vantage point at 5'10" in the drivers seat I can see the front wheel flares and the road. The front of the car all-but disappears leaving just me and the fast approaching pavement. I feel more connected and more in-tune with the conditions. And I can't forget another very important reason that's almost exclusive at this level of driving experience, price point; I bought it because I could afford it. I'm not a doctor, lawyer, or professional athlete but I'm driving one hell of a fun toy. |

What about something like "2nd car as a daily driver"? I use my Jeep to do "dangerous for Elise" things but use Elise as a daily commuter/pocket-rocket

After buying cars that had an ever increasing array of electronic controls and gadgets that did nothing but break down, I wanted something simple. Track days and autocross were a pleasant added bonus.

I wanted something I could fit in the bed of my F250.

I bought my Elise because I fell in love with this car in 96 and promised myself that I would buy it if it came to the states. I have always appreciated Chapman's engineering ability and philosophy this was a perfect way to start my car collection.
