he did not take the pictures him self, i did i know the kid personally and we went to a local car meet together and that is where i took the pictures. i have a nikon d40 digital slr, so you are once again wrong for saying he didnt have a cheap camera to take the pictures.

so in other words this car and the tvs are REAL if you dont believe hes a thread on another site, that i created the night i took the pictures, and you can read what the people that WERE THERE AND SAW THE CAR IN PERSON had to say.

It appears the posts on the Esprit forum are from March of 2007. They seem to be sticking up (some of them, at least) for some other modder who also did the TV in the headrest mod...you are apparently not alone.

You may have taken the photo, but someone added to it.

Again, look at the original photo in this thread - there's a zoomed in view below. Note that the top and bottom of the "display" is horizontal to the photo. Note the bottom of the center brake light, the bottom of the back window, and the vents in the engine cover. All of them appear at an angle because of the perspective of the photo - but the display is not.

Has anyone else noticed that if you run your hands along the back of the "headrest" on the Lotus Elise seat, that there is nowhere to put a tv monitor?

No foam.

Nothing but a bar of stiff plastic.

If he's got my seats, there's no way to put a TV monitor there.

ehhh...what kind of a car meet was this???? that one wagon with the "chrome" rims made me throw up in my mouth.

I've been to a lot of car meets...and the cars at meets are nice, you want to look at them and go "i would like to do that mod in my car". Those cars in the pictures looked like they came from a junkyard....except for the elise. Least the people could've gotten a nice paint job

you guys really dont get it. the car is not photoshopped. i put them up directly from my camera as you can see in the link i posted. if youd like i can make a video of a walk around of the car to prove that their are tvs in the car.

and one last question. why do you guys feel the need to hate on the poor kid just because of what he did to HIS car. I understand what you guys are saying about the ballin and all that **** and that its ricey and what not, but i dont understand how you guys dont get the whole point of the phrase "to each his own", its his car, his money, his tvs so if he likes them thats all that matters.

{edit} and yeah i know the rims on the accord wagon arent very nice, but i mean they kids saw me with my camera and asked if i could take pictures of their cars so me being me i was nice and said sure and took the pictures for them.

Assuming the pictures are real, I am surprised by all of the hating going on here. Members here have the right to express their opinions on this, but there is no reason to be a-holes about it.

Clearly, the TVs are not for viewing while in the car. They were installed as a unique visual mod. Some owners paint their wheels, install rear wings, hood stripes, etc. He did TVs. I have seen worse things done to a Lotus. Would I do it to my car. No. But I am not going to attack him for trying to make his car unique.

Websites are mean, they are cruel, and people will attack you in hordes if they smell blood.

You're right, there is no reason to be an a-hole on a website.

But being that none of this is face to face conversation, and all of it is just written words, nobody really thinks that they are hurting someone's feelings.

Apparently, every few pages people need reminding that he did ask for our opinion. He's certainly free to mod his Lotus any way he sees fit (observing local motor vehicle regulations, of course ). And we're free to reply with our solicited opinion.

Mikemo... it seems you just want to impress people with what you can pay other people to do. If you were really interested in opinions about the mod, you might consider posting clearer pictures, details of the work done, equipment used, etc. Most people here mod their own cars, and while I don't think many of us would consider headrest TV's... we might be interested in how it was done.

Otherwise, it's just wanking...

Actually, you're wrong. Determining perspective is a simple matter of relativity to the camera.

The vanishing point / line is always at eye level, so any line at eye level will render horizontally in a photo. If you look at that photo, the tops of the monitors are at eye level, so a horizontal line for them is correct.

Conclusion: it's your green line that's off - you were fooled by the optical illusion of the Elise's curves in perspective.
