(INFO CALL)Oil Line Recall 2005-07

I just received a notice about a this recall. Can anyone get more specific as to what location the oil line is supposed to be leaking. I as alot of other Lotus owners live several hrs from the nearest dealer, not to mention they are new and wouldn't trust them with it. If possible I want my local preformace shop to repair. Help please.....

There's already a thread on the recall and recalls are performed by dealers, not performance shops.

Evidently your not remotely located and at the mercy of our 3rd dealer of "others" handing the Lotus baton.... Thanx anyway for the link.

Huh? What does my location have to do with recalls being performed by a dealer? It's how it is done. I'm sure you can call Lotus USA and try to obtain an exception but good luck.

Point being, I'm not driving 400+ miles to have something done we are capable of doing better than a VW dealership attempting to Lotusize me... sorry to come off hostile, aggravated with all these recalls.

I guess that's what you get for trying to help

According to the notice, if you had performed this repair yourself elsewhere before the recall, you would have been eligible for compensation for the work performed.

So, call Lotus USA and ask them, and you will probably get an official answer that you're not going to get on a web forum. Their phone number is on the recall notice: 1-800-245-6887. Please report back here with what you find, though, for others like yourself who may have the same concern.

Dude - IT'S A LOTUS.

Lots Of Troubles Usually Serious - and this one is serious. Are you sure you are the right owner for the car?
IMO - your performance shop is the correct thinking though - get a rear mounted Setrab cooler and 3 foot long oil lines installed in the engine bay, - BOE in Kansas will ship you the parts. You just have to eat the cost. Then you can pull out 25 pounds of oem lines and coolers and re purpose those front ducts to some other purpose. Or not.
