SHARP eyes, Matt. I had to go look at a similar perspective of my old S.4 SE to be sure.

And yes, they're 'Elan doors' -- proof that they're original. Only over-restored Elans have doors that don't stick out at the rear-bottom (on both sides).

Yep on the doors - they are all like that. Something about the mold wearing over time and Colin not worried about it enough to make new molds...

Mine do that too.

As for the front fender, I had to look at photos of mine, and yep, my S4's are "squared off" and Jay's are "rounded".

Awesome! When I get an Elan, I'll leave the doors as original and just think of myself as a fellow purist!


Was it because the molds wore? I thought it had something to do with the way the doors were bonded together - things being under tension when fixtured and then relaxing to that shape when they were unfixtured.

Yah, Paul Moyer has little collection of his own going on - that Ferrari, plus a F430 (or two?), a Ford GT, and a C06 Vette i believe.
