Lotus Attacks BMW!

Not sure if general section is ok, but saw the gallery was locked up. Anywho, two weeks ago in the cold (35 degrees), wet snow the local Boston BMWCCA held a hell of a fun ADSS. I've done a few of these now between the M3 and the Lotus and brought my fiance' up to do one in her newly acquired E92 328xi (aka the dud/non drifter).

Fun day, quite a few cool cars floating around and even better was the hour plus drive home on balding Azenis in the Lotus with a GTR next to me who also attended the day. Priceless looks from people I was passing by.

On to the good stuff...

Lol yeah an LX7, funny enough that thing was WAY better on the autox and skid pad than anyone would have guessed. The driver was a crazy european guy toting how it beat a 3 series wagon in the slalom tests when it came out. After seeing it in action Tom and Jerry style chasing me around I wouldn't doubt it.

You mean E39? The only E36 is resting in the pasture, not winning much.

Hey BealeAss,

Question on your plastic bits (oo - er - missus!) - sorry thread digression...

The nose and side vents that are chicken wire on the Exige look pretty darn black, whereas mine look a little more grey. Odd when you consider I'm comparing black on black (your car) with blacky-grey on Red (my car). In fact, I was wondering did you paint them (like the 135R)?

Just wondering as your car looks so... er... stealth.

Ps. Great pics!

Some guys have had good luck painting them a nice satin black. There are a couple threads around here with pics and details.

Non-drifter? You did remember to turn the traction control off, right? In my E46 330ci, I don't just need to hit the ASC button (ASC light turns on), but also hold it for 5 seconds (BRAKE turns on in yellow). This disables both the primary and the secondary traction control. Then I can drift to my heart's content.

my bad, I'm sick so my visions a bit distorted (No, not Swine Flu )
I thought the M5 looked like an M3. Apologies.

So otherwise, yeah I meant E39.

On another note, anyone else noticing how that one pic of the E90 3-series Coupe makes it look mega-crosseyed? Like, not "Morgan" cross-eyed (If anyone gets that reference), but it looks kind of odd.

Those are fantastic pictures. I love the fast shutter speed capturing the water flying all over the place.

Lol there were times it was up on two. In fact many a time on 3 and one wheel was spinning wildly...hillarious stuff.

I too had a 330, so I know that trick. We did that, plus manual drive mode (its steptronic) and it still wouldn't kick. The instructors were quite adamant that the E46 XI's slide whereas they are yet to get an E92 to kick. So somewhere BMW improved that system greatly.

Not for these, it's used as a training for HPDE's with BMWCCA.

Thought about it, but the yellow is just so iconic!

So is this like an important moment in ones life?
The first kiss, the first "time", and the first AutoX/Track?

In that case I better get a Miata or MR2 and hit NJMP.
