Patrick, where is SCC?

Sorry to hear about your "tire" on the freeway incident. Yeah, what is wrong with the SoCal freeway now a days? People dropping sh*t all the time. Just 3 days ago, I got my wife's Daily diver badly scratched on the freeway, someone 2 cars ahead dropped whole bunch metal brackets and it was bouncing all over the 605 freeway!

SCC is on La Cienega in L.A.

Hey Patrick, I saw your car at SCC when I picked mine up last week...the color looks amazing!...Hope you get it back soon.

Have you considered changing your grills to mesh? Steve does quite a few of these conversions.

As Eddie has already answered, SCC in on La Cienega. Give Steve a call if you need any body work.

Hi Eddie, yeah, I'm thinking about the mesh, but going to keep it stock for now. I am going to do some work (mesh, exige seats, race harness, etc.) when I get tired of the stock and need to "spice it up".

[SCC Drop-off] September 16, 2008 - 22,058 documented miles

On the way back from work, I hit a big piece of tire on the freeway. I knew something went bad...

Many of the LotusTalk members recommended Specialty Car Craft in Los Angeles, CA. I called Steve @ SCC, and he scheduled to drop it off right away.

[SCC Pickup] September 25, 2008

Steve and his crew is a wonderful job. The car looks new! Also Steve painted my keys to match my car for me.

Also Mercury Insurance took care of all the matters without any issues.

[Service #11] October 9, 2008 - 22,448 documented miles

Since Lotus Beverly Hills (LBH) is no longer in business, I drove up to Lotus Calabasas(LC) for an oil change and to replace anther cracked Stage-II (the new one will be my fifth one...) Russ from LBH is now at LC, so it was nice to see him there.

In addition to the oil change and a new exhaust, I got a Lotus Cup/TRD airbox. The combination of a previously "upgraded" ECU by LBH (dont' ask...), Stage-II exhaust and a new TRD airbox, the car sounded and felt really amazing.

Sergio, Sisco and Russ took care of the car really great.

Patrick Saw your car again yesterday

Patrick, I saw you drive by on Baseline again yesterday. Glad you got your car back and got new "mods"!

How is the new air box? I wish I have a chance to meet and hear your car in person.

Spotted again! Which part of Baseline did you see me on? I did floor the car between the 210/Baseline exit and Benson a little.

The new airbox is awesome! I can definetely can tell the difference, especially in the second-cam. The combination of the upgraded-ECU, stage-II exhaust and the TRD airbox is totally awesome! Also with the new airbox, the stage-II sounds a bit throattier.

Let's do a run up to Mt. Baldy sometime!

We hear every sound and noise and groan inside the Lotus. We check the car more often than drivers of other cars. We fix the problems more quickly.

We buy these cars and keep these cars and fix these cars because we love them.

You gotta commit to a Lotus.

Otherwise...it's not for you.

I agree.

As much as I've bitched about all the issues with the car, I do love the car.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

[Oct. 15th, 2008]

- One year after buying the car, I passed the 22,620-mile mark. The car was bought brand-new with 161 miles on the odomter from Symbolic Motors on Oct. 15th, 2007.

22,459 miles in one year... Time to go put some more miles on the car!

I have been following this thread and starting to wonder if other 2006 lotus elise owners have the same problems?
I am willing to buy one in the future but it seams that it might be good idea to avoid year 2006?

Unfortunately for Patrick (and fortunately for us?), his is one of the worse. I'd have lost my patience long ago with that car.

Yes, I must say that mine has been very unusal -- well, there are some "good" bizarre issues like the original front Yoko A048s still having lots of tread left after 24,000 miles and some track time...

I am just hoping that Lotus USA and Lotus UK will take care of this ongoing issue properly. With an article about this hitting a "certain" national car magazine in the coming months, if they don't address this problem properly, it will be a bad publicity for them...

I don't get why your car should have any bearing on overall quality surveys of Lotus or why it should be mentioned in a 'major' publication. Every car manufacturer has its problems, and yours certainly ranks high in problems. As an inverse, I am pretty much problem free. I did have one major issue which was fixed and no more. I am at 18,000 miles on my 06 with several track days and lots of hard driving. Why doesn't that go into a magazine?

That might sell cars, but it won't sell magazines.

Yep, for whatever reasons (whether owner created or not), "lemons" seem to crop up even among the most reliable brands. My '04-built Elise has been completely trouble-free, amazingly enough.

Hey Pat, it was nice meeting up with you and exchanging war stories.
I agree with the above statement...I'd given up long ago. But all the more power to you, for your patience in basically replacing every part of your car!

Let me know what happens to the CEL, or if you need someone to with a CEL reader. There are some very knowledgeable guys here on the forums that may be able to figure it out as well (vs. waiting for your car to sit at the dealer for 2 weeks).
