my apologies, broken registry

I took on the registry long ago because I wanted to keep it up, running and reliable. I failed! My apologies.

I will work on it today and get it running again.

I am not sure I will be able to get the bugs out of all the options but will handle those on a case-by-case basis.

Michael

The registry is back up.

I am not sure what happened or why it was broken. However it was and as the responsible person, I take full responsibility. I apologize.

I was able to bring it back up and it appears to be working.

http://www.sandsmuseum.com/cars/elis...try/index.html

I need your help. I am no longer current with options, the various changes in the VIN number to accommodate the new models, or colors. So if you try and enter your car and are unable to provide the complete information, please send me a private message or email me (contacts are on the http://www.sandsmuseum.com website).

I am also interested in various displays of the database. Please let me know if you cannot see the data in the way you want.

I made my career programming or managing programming. I still enjoy it, but only a little. I am happy to make some changes but everyone will not get what they want.

I also make a pledge to be more responsible backing up the data. The down loadable spreadsheet will be updated once a month.

Again, I apologize. I need to pay more attention.

Michael

No need to feel so sorry about it-- you were volunteering your time, effort, webspace, etc. to make it happen.

One notable update is that Exige S VIN does not work. According to your VIN http://www.sandsmuseum.com/cars/elis...try/serial.gif decoder, there is no entry for slot #4 for the supercharged 1.8L 2zzge VVTL-i motor. The Exige S is "V". So the 2007 Exige S (USA Federal) start with SCCVC111#7#L8####.

registry updates coming

I hope it is acceptable, but I will wait for the 2008 options to come out and then update the registry.

I suppose the new colors, especially those that are a $5000 option will want special recognition. The supercharged Elise will also want a box. And I will give special consideration for the new Exige that I get, if and when it ever arrives....

How do I find out the "build date" for my new '06 solar yellow Elise?

build information location

Read the sticker that is inside the driver side door, just a shoulder height. Not only is the inflation pressure for the tires included, but the date of build is there as well.

Some of the entries in the database are incorrect as many people do not know the actual build date. I go in occasionally and fill in a date based on the serial number. The database is sorted by build date, so it is important to get it close...

It looks like M is the problem. Can someone send me a picture of the current VIN decoding page from the latest Service Manual. Either that or you can wait for me to get my new car and then I will download the manual, getting the relevant page.

I just need to know what the chassis/body codes are. Perhaps there are other changes as well for the new 2008 model line up. I wonder if they will change the layout for the new SC versions and if the Exige S 240 will have an identification. I will enable Exige S and Cup car registry at the same time.

I will be happy to make the changes as soon as I find out what they are...

Lotus Elise Register

The entry level K-Series-powered Elise went with it along with a loyal customer base that couldn't stretch to a whopping for the Toyota-powered . The new entry level Elise. It's cheaper than the and is powered by a distant relative of the trick VVTLi engine, built by Yamaha for the Toyota Celica. The engine sitting under the rear clamshell is lifted from the current Corolla. Unlike the 'R' it’s not been fettled by Yamaha, meaning different internals, no electronic valve lift and one less cog in the gearbox.

Anyone want to take over the registry?

I took over the registry a bit more than three years ago. I converted it to use PHP and MySQL, running on my server, sandsmuseum.com. I tried to keep up with all the running changes and with all the new options offered each new year. Even though I now own an Exige, I have not made the necessary modifications to support it.

However as time passed I was less successful, partly because the changes were unknown to me, partly because I got tired of the updates, and partly because it seemed like no one was interested.

Hopefully someone will be excited about taking it over. You will need to be web development aware and be a programmer. I prefer it were hosted elsewhere but I am willing to negotiate. Volunteers?

For those if you who have never heard of the registry, look here:

Lotus Elise Registry, Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)

Should no one step up, I will clean up the database, freeze the data and leave the existing information for display. It will no longer be possible to add more entries.

(The clean up is easy. All that is required is looking for entries that forgot to enter the manufacturing date, guessing on a date based on existing entries, and updating the field.)

Please contact me at sandsmuseum.com or send me a private message.

thanks,

Michael
