Lotus isn't getting enough attention alone?

We had a costume contest at work today, so being the lazy bastard that I am, I simply put on my full race gear (suit, boots, gloves, helmet (forgot the HANS *doh!*)) and went to work. I didn't bother to wear my helmet while driving to work and it was dark anyway. However, on the way home I decided to see what the reaction would be. So I put everything on, including my racing harness (I normally just wear the 3-point on the street). I don't think I could have had more reactions if I was running down the road naked. I was laughing at the amount of pointing fingers, open jaws, double takes, etc. I highly recommend it at least once for fun (I don't intend to make a habit of it.)

I've always wondered if in our lifetime it might not be uncommon to see driver's (of street cars) wearing some type of helmet.

Wow. The helmet is really what gets someone to look.

I think it might even get police stopping you to ask questions.

That's hilarious!

My dad did that once (getting use to a new helmet before a HPDE)- He was amazed at how quickly people would get out of his way- I guess it makes a difference if the guy in your rearview mirror is wearing a fullface helmet!

I'm surprised you didn't get the "wrong" kind of attention.

Yeah, I did notice more people moved out of my way than normal.

I was a little worried I might get a curious cop stopping me. But I don't think they'd actually right me a ticket. They might, but I've had good luck talking my way out of tickets.

Haha LOVE the Benetton pic!

As for getting enough attention... trust me, an S1 Exige generates more attention than I can bloody-well handle!

I think I remember a discussion on here about how wearing a helmet is not illegal.

I did that a couple months ago when I was testing the range on my in car radio. Had to wear my helmet to test the sound quality and see how far I could drive away from my friend before we lost signal.

What's the story behind that photo? I always wanted to drive my shifter kart (back in the day) on the freeway, but never did it...
