Lotus Sport ECU

Need some advice, purchased my car with the Lotus Sport ECU and now selling it to buy a track only Elise. I don't have a stock ECU and would like to keep it for my next lotus. Is it worth going through the trouble? Does anyone know costs for sport versus stock etc. I thought perhaps buy a stock one and keep my sport. Advice greatly appreciated!!

The cost of each is about the same but you have to return a stock ECU with the sport purchase. Last I checked a new stock ECU was ~1100 and a new sport ECU was ~1200 + core return of your stock ECU. Those prices may not be valid at this point but the spread should be about the same.

Also keep in mind that there are 2 stock and 2 sport ECUs. 2005 T4 and the 2006-7 T4e. So make sure you buy the correct one .

As I think of it, if you are buying a track only Elise why not just ship that ECU to CharlieX for a lowered cam point? It will cost less for sure and gives you the same thing as the Sport ECU.

Thanks,

I was not aware that was even a option. From what I have read there is really nothing else the sport ECU does? Perhaps speculation that if you open the exhaust or other mods, it actually keeps the HP gained? I would imaging for 400 the Charlie tune would do similar?

I had Charlies (Goth.am) lowered cam software on my car for 2 years before switching to the Vision Function supercharger (also his software). Never had any out of the ordinary problems with it. Passed yearly inspection and all that jazz.
