How about you do your tunnel run at 3am when its empty.
You're totally right. I should have done it at 3am instead of 2am when I actually did it. Not sure where you're from but if you can find an empty passage into Manhattan at any time of day you're a better man than I.

Also if you can lose control of a car going in a straight line starting at 40 miles an hour, you should stick to walking.

So you equate hitting someone going the same direction as you in a straight line with coming around a blind turn on a windy road with 2 way traffic?

Care to re-examine your logic there?

Edit: I posted this under Best Roads a while back. I got a lot of "boring" comments. Even though I said specifically I just taped it because it was a cool road, it wasn't a run for speed.

So by your logic your run was safer with people driving home from the bars!'

Keep Digging, your not going to convince many people that going 100 MPH in the Lincoln Tunnel is safer!

Also if you can lose control of a car going in a straight line starting at 40 miles an hour, you should stick to walking.

You weren't going 40 MPH you were well beyond the posted speed limit Unless they changed it to 100 MPH and probably scared the crap out of the vehicles you passed

So you equate hitting someone going the same direction as you in a straight line with coming around a blind turn on a windy road with 2 way traffic?

Both can have devastating outcomes, If I remember correctly a certain member of the Royal Family (Princess Diana) died in an Accident in a tunnel at excessive speed! and last time I checked, Hitting someone in any direction was bad!

Care to re-examine your logic there?

Do you care to re-examine your logic as well?

The point I am trying to make is that your comments were unjustified as the videos I have posted or watched of Ronin, there are rarely ever other cars in them for a reason, Ronin doesn't want to wad up his car or anybody elses for that matter and your false sense of security in your abilities and equipment can fail you when you least expect it. I had a tire failure going just over 100 MPH in a straight line and I am lucky to be alive just an FYI!

Point Counterpoint, this is going nowhere. Nor will it. But I'll indulge you.

So by your logic your run was safer with people driving home from the bars!'

Anyone who commutes out from NY to NJ to hit bars deserves to be hit.

Keep Digging, your not going to convince many people that going 100 MPH in the Lincoln Tunnel is safer!

Convince them it's safer than whipping around turns on cliffs with no guard rails?

You weren't going 40 MPH you were well beyond the posted speed limit Unless they changed it to 100 MPH and probably scared the crap out of the vehicles you passed

Also if you can lose control of a car going in a straight line "starting at 40 miles an hour", you should stick to walking.

The bold speaks for itself. Never seen someone get sideways flooring it in a straight line from 40, unless you're running way more horsepower than I have.

Both can have devastating outcomes, If I remember correctly a certain member of the Royal Family (Princess Diana) died in an Accident in a tunnel at excessive speed! and last time I checked, Hitting someone in any direction was bad!

That tunnel had pillars in it. Sides of the Lincoln are not only smooth but you're not allowed to change lanes.

Do you care to re-examine your logic as well?

I see your point, but don't try and equate what I did to why people have a problem with Frank's videos. Is 100 in the tunnel safe, nope but there's miles of difference between the 2.

There are plenty of cars in Ronin's videos. And if there weren't how would he know there wasn't unless he was running a few cars with radios. I could see all the way down the tunnel in my case. The canyons are shared by cars, bicycles and peds.

Is either "safe". No. But one is far safer than the other.
