Motul 300V Power or 8100 X-Cess or Redline?
So which 5W-40 should I be running in a Lotus Elise SC?
8100 is substantially cheaper than 300V Power....but is it ester based? Motul's website doesn't say and didn't give the 1100 ppm ZDDP rating either. What about Redline? Anything comparable? What's the oil capacity...will 5 quarts be enough to do an oil change? I searched and found the Evora takes 6 quarts....Sector 111's website says the 5 quart 8100 container is enough for an oil change, but didn't specify Elise or not. Thanks, Sean PS. searched with site function and google and didn't come up with a good answer. |

Regarding doing an oil change, and many other things, this is your answer: http://www.lotustalk.com/forums/f115...rthread-25131/

![]() ***EDIT*** I've been reading much of that thread rather than working today....but I still haven't seen my question about the types of Motul oil answered....anyone else know if the 8100 is ester based and 1100 ppm ZDDP rated? Last edited by Sean K.; 11-28-2012 at 02:21 PM. |

You are fine either way
300 for serious track use, 8100 for regular use, redline, amsoil,

Which one do you use (I know you're a Motul proponent)? Thanks again, Sean |

300V does not have the detergents you need to run the oil for any extended period of miles. It is a track oil.
