You would have to send them the wheel (in Poland), and its $100 install fee. Which instead of sending it there, you could order the cover from them and just pay someone local to install it for around the same price. Shouldn't be much since the cover is precut and pre stitched.

It'd be down for a while!

The thing I thought about doing was buying another steering wheel and just sending that one so the car wouldn't be down as long. But since it was winter I just sent mine in.

Ever since I have driven a few newer cars with alcantara wheels, I have wanted one.

Garage
Over the years I have purchased Redline goods for a number of my other cars. They make good stuff, and are prompt and trustworthy.

sorry if i missed it, but did they put the alcantara OVER the leather? Cuz I'd actually like the wheel to be slightly thicker.

No, they removed the leather. But they have the option to add padding. As much as I love and really want a padded wheel, I don't think I would like the Elise wheel any thicker. I think its already big enough already, and fits my hands perfectly. Plus it already rubs my leg when I get in most of the time so it was thicker, it would be worse.

My question is, if they cut out the original leather, what did they do to the part of the wheel where your hand grips? That section is plastic/foam and can't be cut away. How did they make it even?

I really like the look of this! I'm familiar with Redline from the Mini forums, they have a lot of positive reviews. I was looking into an aftermarket wheel because I like the idea of alcantara, feels so nice and better than the cheap leather wheel in the car.

Question: When you ordered your shift boot and emergency brake, did you add any length or go with their 'stock' length? Also, is that the standard stitching on the wheel or one of the options?

Thanks!

Shift boots were both just the ones from their site. It is normal stitching, I just asked for orange threads.

When you installed the shift boot, did you re-use the plastic ring along the base or order a new one? Any tips on installing? Going to order the shift boot and emergency brake cover in black with yellow stitching to see how I like it before ordering the wheel.

Thanks!

I broke my plastic shift boot ring so I had I get a new one but it was only like $7 or so at the dealer. Those freaking clips on it are a pain in the butt.
