View Poll Results: How do you feel about adding a white variant to the Elise color palette?
I must have Monaco White. It looked great on both the Elan and on the Esprit and would look even better on the Elise. 3 4.23%
I must have Pearl White. I loved it on the Esprit. 8 11.27%
Just give me some variant of white! I need a cool color and it would complete the Lotus color spectrum. 11 15.49%
White/Schmite. I don't care what colors get added, as long as Aztec Bronze is replaced. 12 16.90%
Just paint a white one for Larry, so he'll stop using up valuable forum bandwidth on the topic. 37 52.11%

Question New color poll (white centric)

There are rumors (not all by me ) that there may be some new colors added (and some replaced) at the end of the first year of production, sometime this summer.

To that end, I am posting this poll to investigate the level of interest in adding a variant of White (what else) to the Elise color palette at that point in time.

I think you should buy an Aztec Bronze and paint it Pearl White. Kill two birds with one stone...

Larry,

When are you in line to order your car? Ask your dealer to contact Lotus to see if you can get it. White is available so why not special order it? Is not like they have to go out of their way to mix/order the paint. My guess is it would be $2k for a special order paint.

Why no Old English White in the poll? it is after all the only shade of white currently being used by Lotus (on the Exige).

Hi shay2nak,
Got the call to order a week and a half ago (see this thread ).
I would do as you suggest in a second, if given the chance! Highlights of my interaction during ordering process, was I could NOT special order Monaco White and I could NOT order Olde English White (though OEW is available for non-US consumption). Bottom line is they are really busy at the moment (something about a 1+ year US backlog to fill) and this is a low priority for them at this time. Therefore I asked to be dropped backwards into the next ordering group at my dealer, while I ponder alternatives/nextSteps.

Hi girlracer,
The LotusUSA folks are pretty adamant about NOT offering Olde English White in the US market. They do not think it will sell well here. However, they were kind enough to furnish me with a paint chip, such that I could develop my own opinion. And now having seen it (though not on the elise in person), I think their guess about the US market for OEW is probably correct, except for English expatriates and long time Lotus enthusiasts
I think your comments in the thread referenced above were dead-on wrt/ color taste.

Larry

I also asked when it was time to order the second Elise. I wanted a pearl yellow...like the lambo three stage yellow. I'm not too hot about Saffron Yellow, though Stan's pics of his car are outstanding. So I just ended up getting Chrome Orange.

Whoops... forgot to post link to another poll (some months back that was a little more generic in nature) that contains a number of pics for those who haven't seen a white Elise.

I have been told by the Lotus USA folks that all the pictures there, where the White appears to be a bright White correspond to Monaco White and where it definitely appears to be an off-white correspond to Olde English White.

The photoshopped pictures here and here are closest (but not an exact match) to Monaco white.

well good luck Larry! If I wanted a particular colour as much as you seem to, I would seriously consider ordering a base colour and sending the car straight to be resprayed. But I'm sure you've already thought of that.

White is generally my least favorite color on any car, but the crispness of Monaco White seems to fit the car nicely. I've heard a couple people say that they thought that a pearl white would be nice on the Elise, but I disagree. Pearl white has too much of a luxury feel to match with the sporting nature of the Elise.

I think the Pearl white is very nice and would go well with a blue interior too. I can't undestand why Aztec was chosen over any white. But given that CO and LB were not in the original line-up I think that LCUSA marketing do not have a clue regarding their market

If I wer you Larry i would seriously consider gatting one painted. At least you can get the exact type of white you want and the Elise can be repainted very well as all the painted parts are removable. You could probably get it done for the cost of ordering a lifestyle paint too!

I owned a Pearl White Audi and received more compliments on it than any car I've ever owned. It looked great, was easy to keep clean, and didn't show chips (unless they were deep).

I love a white car, add the biscuit interior. If you want to make it unique add a light blue strip down the middle (American Racing colors).

I would love to see white in the line-up, regardless if it is pearl, Old English, etc. I was really surprised it wasn't offered when introduced here.

Am I the only one who likes Aztec Bronze?...
