New Exige front CLAM??

I have my car over at Specialty Car craft, and the service has been great so far. I am so glad I made this decision instead of going with Advanced Colision that Lotus of South Bay recommends. That was a nightmare last time...

That being said, does anyone know of where an Exige front clam is here in the states and/or where I/they can purchase one. I know he said that he would call around, but I figured if anyone knows I would save him the time and just tell him.

Thanks for your help.

I have been trying to get one also through Lotus Garage. I was told they were just not available right now as all are spoken for, for production of Exige cars.

The question has come up several times about whether the Exige clams will fit on an Elise. I've always wondered about whether the rocker panels were unique to the Exige because the rocker panels are bonded to the chassis and are problematic to replace.

Lotus has always stated that the only common body panels between the Exige and the Elise were the doors. Whether that is true, or not, I can't be sure, but I spent a lot of time yesterday comparing an Exige and an Elise sitting side by side. I did not see any difference between the rocker panels on the two cars. They look identical to me.

I have seen an Elise with an Exige front clam. So it is possible.

The website is under construction. They manufacture all of the bits you are looking for.

Part versus part number? BMW does that all the time....M parts always cost more and are not always different. One of the articles on the Exige specifically says that the doors and rockers are the only shared body parts. If true, then body work wise you can convert from one to the other via F/R clams, engine cover and related bits.

If someone gets one of those 24,000 dollar clam swap approvals, they might want to "convert".

You can

I talked to one of the tech guys at Park Place LTD about a year ago and he said you could.

I was actually asking how much a new elise clam was and he offered that if I was going to put a new clam on I might as well buy an exige clam and put it on.

Of course at the time I was completely against the idea. But then I no longer have a car, now do I.

he he

FWIW, I am sure you can, question is, why? Sell the elise and buy an exige. once you get the new clam on it will be nearly the same out of pocket expense, and the resale (not that you would ever sell) would be higher, I'd think .

yes, you can do it.

I have a pic of a black elise with the exige's front clam. The pics are on my home lapper so I'll post tonight.

Because AFAIK it's Bogie's supercharged Honda-K20A monster that started life out as a Rover powered S2.

So the Exige front clam (with some work) even fits the older cars.

Bye, Arno.

I got it...it can be both. LOL. But the latter doesn't make much sense.
