Finished the install tonight. All is well since using the MSD pickup. This project took too long. What I thought would be the hard part was easy. The part that I thought would be straightforward gave me the most grief.

I'll post final install pics tomorrow.

Thanks for all the helpful suggestions and encouragement,
JP

Cool... I got my blue/red iShift in the mail yesterday and I'm very much thinking of installing it the same way you did... Just waiting for pic's.. and the weekend and the MSD pick up to come in the mail.

Hi Jonathon,

Very nicely done!

Looks a lot cleaner than I would have imagined.

Regards,
Wayne

jpryor27... that's a very impressive install!

For reference, you can install without the pickup. You can download fitment details for both the S1 and S2 from the website...

Morning Gents
I must admit the double angle of the S2 binnacle did cause a few problems with embedding!
The fit into the S1 is nice as there is a steady curve along the top and I covered it in black Alcantra anyway to cover up the plastic work.

from a technical angle, it is best if all the lenses are exposed!
The unit cannot be wired to operate upside down as the LEDs are on the board though I will chat to the designer later to check if it is is possible with software only.

From your picture have you considered raising the unit a few mm, then creating a new flat section in front of the Shift-i? this could then be covered with Alcantra (which also has the benefit of being non-reflective and hides any scratches on the binnacle).
This would expose the lenses but not leave any gap underneath the unit.

Hmm. You might consider taping off the top of the shift display and spraying the rear with a couple light coats of (subtle) semi-gloss black crinkle paint to match the finish of the binnacle... it would also hide the screws / connector...

Then a very small bead of black caulking to make it look seamless...

Should be able to find paint like that at a hobby shop...

Just a thought...

Looks awesome - I'm jealous!
