From Norfolk to Panama to Charleston????

I'm looking at a '99 Esprit (US spec car) for sale and while reviewing the history (CarFax), I noticed the vehicle was exported (new) to the US (Charleston, SC) from Panama --- rather than directly from the UK.

Is this the normal US import protocol for these cars, or is something fishy with this one? I would have assumed that all the cars would have been delivered new directly to the US ---- without a stop-over anywhere (especially Panama, of all places).
