Interesting. They are using a smaller supercharger. It sounds like both the Elise SC and the Exige S without the performance pack will be using a non intercooled MP45 instead of the MP62.

It is also hard to tell how the option packages will play out here as we already airbags as well as some of the other stuff in the Federal Elise.

I assume that's 220 at the flywheel. Doesn't' the sector kit give you 215 at the rear wheel? If so the after market upgrades available are not only cheaper but have more power.

So hmm about 7K to buy and install Katona or 20K and up to trade in to a new Elise.

Am I missing something?

Did I read that correctly, that air conditioning will be a stand alone option like T/C? Won't have to pay to delete it, then.

That puts the SCed Elise at 14% premium over the 111R. Rough estimate would be just over $50K for the Federal SC Elise, or $6000 premium, assuming the price increase carries over 1-to-1 to the US. That makes the pricing very competitive with aftermarket supercharger options especially considering you keep the full factory warranty.

From what I've heard the Lotus dyno numbers for their SC cars are generally closer to wheel HP, not crank. The Exige S dynoed on this board all were very close to 220 whp, so I assume the SC Elise would be similar.

If you already own an Elise it's most definitely cheaper to SC it yourself than trade up, the major tradeoff is warranty.

I guess this means the 05's have now moved into the "classic" category .

to Lotus for clearly paying close attention to the customer wish list. I'm still leaning toward an aftermarket sc for my '05, though...

Yes, but if you're looking at upgrading, Lotus' owner loyal program would help soften that hit.

I am looking to gab an 05 hopefully somewhere in the ballpark of high 20's. As mch as the depreciation sucks for the current owners geting rid of theirs, its saving me a furtune

"Supercharged Elise SC, a 220 PS version of the multi award-winning roadster, easily identified by its new rear spoiler and unique new design of alloy road wheels."

I want to see what the spoiler looks like my guess its a carry over from the 72D, but the allow wheels will be intresting to see!

Also

Performance Pack – more punch, more ability for Exige S
· 308 mm front cross-drilled and vented discs with AP Racing four piston callipers
· Uprated front and rear brake pads
· Full length upsized roof scoop
· Variable slip traction control
· Uprated clutch plate and cover
· Uprated vehicle performance through enhanced power and torque delivery
· Launch control

Launch control will be intresting too see i still dont understand why the 220 PS elise and the 220PS exige have different performance and the performance benefitting the exige, even though it was more. Im confused. I understand that the elise is using a smaller eaton supercharger so that could be it and I am guessing it is that and an ecu de tune. Any other thoughts?

Doubtful. The price of the Elise SC will surely increase, making an older Elise look like a relative bargain. If anything, the Elise SC will rekindle interest in the cars (magazine reviews, etc), and people who can't quite afford a new SC will look at picking up a low mileage used Elise and adding an aftermarket SC to it.
