Does this recall apply to all model years or just 2005 and 2006?

Wow! Includes a front clam shell removal...

I wonder if the dealers will replace the radiator with an all Al version at a discounted cost since the clam is already removed under warrenty?

Anyone ask their dealer about this?

They should. I'd ask and see how much extra labor the tech would want but I'd guess probably another hour or so to install it and to bleed it.

So will they replace it even there is no sign of leakage for any future potential failure/problems?

So I have to ask the question, is it actually OFFICIAL, i.e. Lotus is saying "Send us your cars so we can fix them."

Anyone get a sold word on that one yet? Last we heard (last winter) they would send out a letter when a solution would have been found, but I haven't heard one yet. So wondering, have you guys?

Thanks for this info Beammer.

Yes. Recall is official.

Here is the letter:

http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/acms/cs...1V510-8637.pdf

Here is the fix as posted earlier:

http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/acms/cs...1V510-4867.pdf

(notice the date on the fix pdf, its sept 2012)

And here is a copy and paste from one of the documents:

Subject to parts and tool availability, notification dates are as follows:
Dealer notification: 2nd January 2013
Owner notification: 9th January 2013

So we can probably start actually going in for the repairs starting January.

Just talked to my dealer and he says that no dealers are performing the recall. And its pending and says lotus will send letters out when they are ready to perform it.

Which is exactly the same thing it says in the PDF's linked in the OP... not trying to pick on anyone in particular just find it amusing that no one bothers to read the linked docs :-)

I hope they give us a good amount of time to get our cars done as many of us in the Midwest are not able to drive their cars during the January and on months or at least refuse to brave the snow and ice in a Lotus. Now if our winter was like last year then no problem as we had only about 2 weeks of no driving weather here. I would be happy if they just mailed me the parts and let me do it myself. I really do not like dropping my car off and waiting for anything I can do on my own. I can probably do the repair faster than I can get through traffic around here just to drop off my car anyway.

Thanks for the info. I've been waiting over a year for movement on the recall. I've read both links and can't see where the dates you copied are located. Is there another document?
