Hey, that's my car! (The orange one, not the incredible Supra.)

Thanks. I stripped it down to a rolling chassis this year and did a complete color change. It used to be a pearl silver metallic. Now it is a 98 Toyota color, Alpine Silver Metallic. It is an NA chassis and I added the spoiler when I painted the car. I also installed new carpeting and trim all the way around. Everything works on the car with the exception of the AC which I do not need in winter and cut off the belt for it. I am planning on doing some crazy sound system in it and swapping out the motor with a 7MGTE next summer if I get the time. I am converting it to leather first though. Thinking of maroon with perfed silver body and a Supra logo on the headrest in silver. It has been my little project for the past few years. It will be a turbo when I am finished. I also added keyless entry and remote start. I might do remote start for the Elise too when my warranty expires. I am doing the cruise control for sure in the Elise because I like to take it on trips.
It drives like a Caddy compared to the Elise but I still like it. Supras are what got me started in sports cars. Never forget your roots. I know about SupraMania but LotusTalk is the only forum I subscribe to.

Alpine Silver was only available through 1997, they switched to Quicksilver in 1998. A lot of people wish they had gone 2JZ-GTE from the start, instead of dealing with a 7M. Might be something to consider.

As long as I've owned cars I've had a Supra.

Oops! You are correct and I am feeling silly. I actually painted it 1B9 Quick Silver Metallic Clearcoat which is a 98 Supra color. I remember I was thinking Quicksilver but changed my mind and apparently forgot about it. The paint sat on my shelf for 8 months before I sprayed it so I kind of forgot what I had mixed. The urethanes I use have a really long shelf life, especially compared to a lot of the alternatives. 1B9 is a cool color in person and is a bit darker than Quicksilver. It has some green in it too but it's very subtle. Very similar to the Graphite Grey Lotus colors but a little lighter. Maybe I will take a picture of a console painted that color on top of it to get a comparison.

On a similar note I had a new windshield installed in it today and I asked the installer about the Elise for windshields. They say they can do it but it would take a bit to get the glass in and they would need the car a couple of days. I would probably take the Lotus to the dealer if I needed a new one but was curious if they would even attempt it and it might be nice to have a competitive quote if I ever need one.

I am actually thinking of painting the rims on it gloss black and the Elise rims matte black. What do you think? I know of this really cool high solids paint system that chemically bonds to aluminum and is good for rims. Stripping them isn't too hard with this aircraft paint stripper I can get. I was going to repair mine but am thinking of just changing the color. Plus, matte black is a lot easier to touch up than a metallic silver .

Shot this with my camera phone just after seeing this thread for the first time. These are the beasts I have to contend with up here in the mountains!

Not my Lotus, but one I borrowed for a show next to my E39, and an A4 on the other side.

Brendan, is this a 2008 California version? We're not big big fans of the painted louvers and silver grill.

It is a California. I'm personally not a fan of those touches either. I do like the interior, but after one day it was a touch dirty, and that's with taking full care not to touch the sill with my wet shoes. I'd personally take a normal Elise over it, but I guess that's why they make different options for different people.
