Dave I understand your concern. However I do not see how Dave Simkin or LCU is resposnible. Only the crappy dealership is responsible.

Agree, unfortunately it's a rarity to get good service that are up to our high expectations. In my experience Dave Simkin has been very helpful when it was in his power to make the call.

I have to agree that is is much ado about nothing. Making such an issue with Lotus USA over this just makes it harder when some of us have a ligit claim.

being as you are in florida it may be a "waste of your time" but for people living in his region i think it is a great service he has provide, so that others dont get the same treatment. now after reading his problems the can either go in ready for such issues or find anothe location that is willing to help. i bet that if something similar happened at the p[lace you sevice your vehicle you would appreciate knowing about it, just my 0.02

You might do a search on the "value of a customer" Both on this site and google. You might find some interesting articles that crunch the numbers related to this type of issue in business. I seem to remember a case of missing shirts at a dry cleaners from marketing class.

Anyway, the point is do you FEEL mistreated? If so, are you the type of person willing to see this through? If so, you can cost the company a great deal of money, and the company can be defined as this dealership and Lotus.

I am generally not one of those people, but luckily my wife is.

Good luck, I hope your issue gets resolved correctly

actually, i bought the car and i do care, but it is getting worse, as time went on it started peeling more, and now it's pretty noticeable.

I have every sympathy with Dave Kennedy. I live up here in the wilds of North Dakota and this Minneapolis dealer is by far (excuse the association) the closest Lotus service center to me; but based on a number of sources on this forum, I would never set foot in this dealership. We have people who live in suburban Minneapolis who are taking their cars to Chicago to have work done on them!! .. are you getting the idea yet? Be thankful that the rest of you have the opportunity to make choices in your area ... I'm having to invest in a duelly and a trailer so I can pursue my dream of ownership.... OK .. I feel better now .. thanks

I can understand your concern. Lotus of Denver also reflashed my 2006 before downloading the data. I know, however, that since I had ownership of the car at 6 miles (of which Symbolic Motors drove an additional 20 miles to verify the headlights were aligned at their shop) that the car was broken-in correctly and religiously (though I'm not sure if Symbolic Motors may have ragged on her for the 20 miles, it would be an insignificant amount of even the wildest driving, and I doubt it since Symbolic Motors seems upscale as they sent me champagne and a fruit and chocolate basket next-day-air to congratulate me on my purchase!!!)

If I ever sold the vehicle, one look at the condition, engine note, and driveability, along with all saved paperwork would enamour even the most dubious buyer sans break-in ECU dump print-out. Most people don't even CARE about any of those finite details but the most discriminatory buyer, and your paperwork and honest testament should account for that, as you seem trustworthy.

Because Lotus installs a hint of demand of break-in law, a good percentage do indeed break-in their Loti per-manual. The track broken-in exceptions are quite noticeably weathered, and of instances I've heard, those sounded a bit more rough.

Your Starshield is covered separately under warranty in the manual.

Actually there may be real damages above the $120 in this case, and an easy one to win. If you have or can get an agreement stating you would have sold the car for x to the first person, but sold it for x-y to the second person because of no print out which is an extremely important barometer of use with our cars, you would win y + $120. This is a very common damage claim in courts for all sorts of things

Looks like the dealer is a turd, leason is dont do business with them again. There are many good dealerships around the country.

Sad that this happens but Lotus is a small brand over here and a small loss for most stealerships
