Actually, it wasn't too bad. Ambient temps were upper 30's to low 40's and it was nice and sunny. But I was just running on my cheapo street tires and not pushing too hard. I ran through the water on the apexes once or twice and decided to avoid that as it was like hitting ice.

David, living in the NorthEast, 30 degrees is not cold, but I'm not sure how my Toyo R1R's would like that
Supposedly they get hard as a rock and crack if the temps fall below 14 degrees or something like that.

The rear facing view, mounted to the clam seemed bumpy. Is the track smooth or was it the mounting hardware?
I'll assume it's an iPhone that you have, what brand mounting hardware do you have and are you using Harry's Lap Timer from the App Store?

Anthony, you were slaying cars left and right, especially in the first video. Nice seeing you pass the red Z06.
I don't think the crotch cam is going to catch on. I've never seen that view and hope I never do again! Lol.
It seems like the Vettes step out hard with acceleration. I'm sure you've seen the video of a Vette cruise where one Vette steps out and cannibalizes another Vette.
What made you go with the 15/16 setup on the Ethos?

Thanks. A vette is no faster than any other car unless properly driven, as is Exige or Elises. These videos adequately show how brakes and fast cornering very quickly eliminates a HP difference, at least on this track.

I researched a lot until going 15/16 205/225. In the end it came down to really wanting to run RA1 tires and at that point i got to choose whether i wanted 225 or 245 in the rear. In the forum it was a tossup between the two as to which is faster. I do countersteer a lot, but I think my car is easy to drive fast. It is very predictable. I think id rather have this Oversteer than have it Understeer.

Was it you or your friend that was driving his car at the time of the accident?
When you say you're going to "get more nice cars", what cars are you thinking of? GT-R, with all wheel drive and zillions of traction control nannies might be a good choice It looks like the bump in the road is what did you in.
Any pics of the damaged car? I believe there is a thread where you can post the VIN #'s of totaled cars. It would be good if you can do that.

I have a question about the unsprung weight. It looks like the overall diameter of the tire/wheel setup is the same if you go with the 15/16 or 16/17.

So, I realize a smaller wheel is less weight, but a larger tire is more weight. Does anyone have the total weight for each setup?

The rear view mount was to a "blank" license plate, not the most stable spot. Track is fine for a street car but a bit bumpy for the open wheel folks. For the iPhone/Harry Laptimer, it was the first time using a RAM mount, pretty impressed.

Am lucky to have Laguna Seca and Sears Point, 1.5 hours away.

My ethos are lighter than stock LSS, but with ra1's, the setup is a bit heavier versus the lss on dz 101 tires. My average lap time improved by 6-7 seconds by getting ra1's. and I can still drive to the track.

I regularly am in the 1.3+ g range, but it gets more squirrelly at 1.36+ G.

Badly managed weight distribution... The car gives out at 1.2 ish G, properly managed the car very predictable above 1.3 g. With better suspension, lower ride height for more neg camber, I imagine what potential is left in my car.

Keith Verges ran 15/17 205/235 ra1, but the tire height was a bit shorter than optimal. With that setup, and the fact that he is a racer, he is 1-2 seconds faster per lap.

I've mounted my go pro to the rear clam, just above the plate and it was solid.
I'll look into the RAM mount.
