Race 340 Delivered

Hi All,

Last Thursday I took delivery of my ForcedFed Race 340 Elise at the ForcedFed facility in Livermore, CA. Unfortunately it was dark and raining when I got there, but John and Casey and the rest of the crew waited patiently for me to arrive. I drove the car with Casey first and then took 3 people from Elise Talk on test rides. All I can say (and I think they would all agree) is WOW!!! What a car and what a top notch install. The car has a guitar switch next to the ECU (see pics), which allows you to choose between 4 maps. A standard 91 octane 275 map, a more aggressive 93+ octane map and then a full race gas map at 340 hp (295 whp and 222 wheel torque); see the dyno plot below for the 3 maps. Finally there is a valet mode that only allows the engine to rev to 4,000 rpm. Casey at ForcedFed did the motor swap for my built sleeved race motor and he also installed a new ATS/Across clutch and carbon LSD. ForcedFed also installed a new exhaust exiting above the diffuser, a carbon fiber diffuser from Sector 111, and a ForcedFed carbon fiber front lip spoiler. They also added a 280 mm Momo Team steering wheel with the Tekniq QR system and the Ohlins adjustable suspension with the remote reservoirs.

The install was extremely well done, and Casey spared no details. He went through all of the wiring and plumbing and added heat shielding where appropriate. He made a custom welded box for the guitar switch and kept me up to date throughout the entire process. John, the owner of ForcedFed, also called me on a regular basis to keep me updated. All of my special requests and instructions were followed to a tee, and the car came back to me looking better than when I dropped it off. They did not scratch the car (especially the rear clam) during the install and John personally waxed and detailed the car before delivering it to me. The whole process was really a joy, and I never had a complaint with the customer service or the quality of work. Casey really went above and beyond the call of duty on the install and also broke the car in for me exactly as requested. This included breaking in the motor on the dyno and then breaking in the LSD with figure 8's in a parking lot, and then driving the car on the freeway, mountain roads and Christmas shopping with his girlfriend in San Jose. He then changed the LSD oil after about 150 miles, as recommended by the LSD manufacturer.

This car is my daily driver, and behaves like one in any of the 3 map positions. The 275 is just how I remember it and the 340 is a beast, but is still very smooth and drivable. The clutch has a little chatter, but is still very streetable, while the LSD makes a few sounds letting you know that it is doing its job. The car idles perfectly after a cold start and after it is warmed up and after hard driving. It has not stalled once and I had no problems driving all the way home from San Francisco to Albuquerque; not a single hiccup.

If you want to go with FI on your Elise or Exige, ForcedFed is the way to go. They have mastered their kit, they have mastered the Elise, and their customer service is 2nd to no one. They have also followed up with me after delivery and we continue with an excellent relationship; I actually consider John and Casey as my friends and write this to you all from the bottom of my heart. John and Casey have worked hard on this kit and it is now paying off, they deserve a huge pat on the back from all of us. I consider myself as somewhat of a pioneer and guinea pig to allow them to build this Race 340 kit for my car as a daily driver and with the multiple map configuration, and I assure you it was worth it. I hope that many of you will follow in my foot steps if you are considering FI.

I would also like to thank Jay at ForcedFed for doing the suspension and steering wheel on my car; Dorothy for collecting my money ; and the rest of the ForcedFed crew for putting up with my constant phone calls. Also, I want to thank Ned and his wife Serena for picking me up at the airport in Oakland and taking me to ForcedFed, and Brian for helping me test the LSD.

I will keep you all updated on the status of my car as we go into the new year. I have attached some photos for you to enjoy.

I hope you all have a safe, prosperous, and happy New Year.

Stephen

Sorry, no, but ForcedFed has a video of their Race 380 car doing the 1/4 mile on street tires. Maybe John can post a link.

On my car, at sea level, I would guess that the 1/4 mile is mid 11's at around 120 mph. Anyone care to do an estimate with my 340 map figures? Last time I weighed my car with the turbo kit it came in at 1920 lbs with a 1/4 tank of gas and no roof.

It is an Accusump; a required part for the Race 340 kit.

How do you like them Falken Azenis'es? How do they stand up to your new power as compared to the Yoko's?

I really like the Azenis and will probably buy them again. The only reason that I say probably is because now that I have the Ohlins, the car is significantly lower and the 215 front Azenis are rubbing. I did raise the front of the car and they no longer rub, but I am not sure how this will ultimately affect the handling of the car; I need to get it on the track and play with it some. I will talk with Ohlins directly and get some ride height and recommended compression and rebound settings. I will also talk with Sector 111 about this.
