Ran over dead deer
Was on my way home from the 13hr headlight brigade race at VIR last night when I took on a sleeping deer in the middle of the highway. My headlights are aimed low and I didn't have enough time to swerve. I thought for sure my front clam was going to be mangled, but thankfully it wasn't. It made one heck of a bang though! Check out the diffuser, sharp as a knife! Must have cut that deer like swiss cheese. I kind of wanted to go back to see if the deer was sliced into several pieces then wondered what the deer would have looked like if I had the 5 or 7 element
...makes me glad that I missed the fed-ex delivery man that morning who was supposed to bring me my ride height adjustable shocks, any lower and I would have had some serious issues. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Holy crap.
Good save. Some road carnage just in time for Halloween. Is it symbolic too that your car is orange? Squirrels barely make out out alive and without wrecking our cars. To tackle a deer and be virtually unscathed.....wowsers. Good on ya. Cheers,

You tenderized the meat before slicing it up with some blood marinade. Good eats. You're a Halloween terror.

Very lucky!I hit a rabbit at 35 mph and he pulverized my front grill. Took me ages to get all of the, well, you know, out of the heater/radiator intake. Eeeeeeyuk.

Good thing our cars are enclosed underneath...my friend ran over a deer in his 1971 Chevelle....he had flesh hanging on the manifolds, and it looked like someone dumped a gallon of red paint in the engine compartment

Lucky
I'd get behind that front spoiler and patch it up though, so it doesn't get worse.

No, car is riding on "touring" shocks now. I sent my LSS shocks to BOE to get the spring perches adjustable so I can lower the car.

I had two events today, neither one produced any damage thankfully, though one animal didn't survive. First, this morning I was out early just getting one more drive in before the hibernation, and a van about 1/4 mile in front tags a small deer as it hurdled the center divider. I quickly swerved around it, it was pretty gross, but at least it was quick for the deer. Two other cars pulled over so I didn't hang around. Kind of got the heart pounding after that one. Then about 2 miles later I'm cruising down a forest preserve road at the limit of 50mph when I come across a squirrel doing that "middle of the road, which way should I run dance". He decides to end up in the center of my lane and stops. I let up on the gas, but just keep steering straight, no brakes, just expecting a noise. Well, I guess he crouched down, cause I drove right over him. In the side mirror I saw him look up, then around, then he was gone. Two big adrenaline buzzes in about 5 minutes. Well, I just took that as an omen, and gently cruised back home, washed it and put it away.

I didn't get to see any of the carnage last night, just checked to make sure I wasn't dragging anything.
when I went out to my car this morning there were bees all over it and my dog was licking the rocker panels!!!

Still plays with cars
|
I did this in my RX-8 a few years ago. The car in front of me went over the deer so I had no time to avoid it. Since the RX-8 is a bit lower than than most cars on the road I shaved off an inch or so on deer. I pulled over to see if there was any damage and instantly my car went up in a huge cloud of smoke. Nothing wrong with the car, just a lot of burnt venecin all over my exhaust. I spent a few hours the next day pulling out handfulls of meat and skin from every crevice under my car. It looke like a slasher film under my car. The car smelled like burnt meat for at least a year.
I think you were pretty lucky. I would have expected some damage to the front clam.

Seriously now. Your car will no doubt carry some otherworldly character after such an intense spiritual experience just now, when the veil between the seen and unseen worlds is least apparent. I mean it. The dog in the first picture knows this too. You can scrub and scrub that blood, but it will return....
Might be good. There are worse animals whose spirits one might carry for your car. What if you'd hit a turtle? Well if you beat me on track now I have an excuse. Watch your mirrors for an antlered apparition.

I was on my way home from a party around 3 am with my Triumph Spitfire {running 185/60/13 tires which makes the car even lower} when a cat ran out in front of me. Well the cat cashed in it's nine lives, there was a mini van behind me so I pulled over to the side of the road... the mini van pulled over behind me! I guess they thought I would go knocking on doors at 3 am to find the owner, we sat there for a few minutes in our cars and then the van finally took off.

It's an old long standing joke. There is no such thing as a "touring" suspension (or wheels) for the Elise (it's in my signature too). There were "Base" wheels and suspension, and "Sport Pack" wheels and suspension.
The "Touring" package was the interior upgrade package. I thwack people ( ) when they post it wrong...
