The Exige has side scoops, Elise does not unless, of course, you covert it which is where the RLS / NCI scoop bracket and grille kits come in.

Is the Yellow Circled area black silicone, tape, or something else? Is this supposed to be there when the mesh install is complete? Please say no. It doesn't look good. It seems like there should be a cleaner way to install these.

Ofcourse that won't be there.

The mesh is folded, you attach it on the inside.

Thx. I know it seems like a pretty dumb question, but the thread has no completed install pics, which leaves things open to interpretation.

Oh, didn't mean to imply that your question was dumb with the ""

I just thought it'd be dumb if it WERE like that permanently.

I understand the confusion... at this time the only grille kits are for the Exige scoops, which can be retrofitted onto an Elise with the RLS / NCI scoop bracket kit and a pair of scoops.

That pic is from my "How to make Exige Scoop Grills" thread.
How to: Exige Scoop Grills

Honestly, you could make them yourself, but for the price, I think these "pre-made" ones are a good deal. Easy to install for sure, There are more pix on how to install them on my thread, regardless if you make them yourself, or buy the grill kit from NCI.

SCOOPS AWAY!!!

Just getting around to attaching the grilles to the TWRD wide scoops with silicone adhesive... I needed to trim the grilles just slightly to get a perfect fit, maybe 10 minutes worth of very minimal trimming.

1) Inside of scoop showing the fitment and silicone adhesive...
2) Outside of scoop with grille in place...

I'm letting the adhesive dry overnight... tomorrow I should have pics mounted on the car...

was the distance from the scoop to the side of the car good?when i made the the forming buck they where fit on my elise with the no drill mounts and your measurements so i could make them fit the exige too.if they where a bit wider then i could trim the buck back before i make more.

The distance to the side of the car was fine... there was a little interference with the curvature of the scoop opening near the bottom... maybe 1/8" maximum... see the photo below:
