Rear stock panel exhaust exit w/ bumperettes
I'm not much for the looks of the rear panel eliminators, so decided to figure out a way to modify the stock panel of my '08 S240 to install an Arqray Ti.
While the bumperettes are not very attractive and likely useless in a fender bender, I still wanted to keep a stock look (without reverting back to an '05/06 panel.) I did a custom exit on my '05 Elise which required only some minor fab of the heat shield and right rear panel. Unfortunately, the bumpers extend further out from the center, so a standard hanging exhaust tip would not clear. The tip needed to exit 2+ inches further right, so I decided to shift the exhaust. Doing so went beyond the reach of the driver side hangar, so I picked up a 7/16" stainless tube at the hardware store. I heated the tube with a torch and tapped it on the hangar, extending it about 4 inches. To extend the exhaust pipe, I just bought a $3 2 1/2" ID/OD adapter and clamp from Autozone. Used a Dremel on the rear panel to cut the exhaust hole exit, then trimmed with black edge molding. The tip extends well beyond the rear clam so I'm not expecting any exhaust heat issues. I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out and it was a fairly simple 4hr project.

Nice work!
I would've liked to keep a more stock look also, but the ReVerie diffuser won't fit properly with the bumperettes. I'm still thinking that a black mesh (like the Exige hatch mesh) might look a little more OEM than just a panel eliminator, without trapping any heat.

What did you use to line the hole in the panel? I've seen door edging used successfully.
