RPM Telltale Will Not Light

My Elise RPM telltale has stopped working. The light will illuminate when I arm the alarm but it does not light on RPM or in the "standby" mode when the car is sitting. Will the instrument reset as outlined in the manual correct this? Any other ideas on how to fix this would be appreciated.

RPM Telltale

I should add that I washed the car today and did not cover the engine. Is it possible that water got somewhere causing the malfunction?

RPM Telltale

Last night I had another go at the problem. I discovered that the two plug wires looking similar to spark plug wires, plugging into a "black box", on the bulkhead were loose. I snapped them tight and presto the RPM light works.

Not likely. I've washed mine without ever covering the engine in a towel or anything... never had any probs.

I don't know of anyone in the UK that does this either. Anyone!
