I thought Lotus was putting there efforts into making a new Esprit before going to work on a S3 Elise. Maybe that explains the spy shots of the Exige testing with flared fenders.

Are there any aftermarket mods available?

I look forward to the display.

So just an Elise then? No Exige? Hmm... I wonder it that says anything about the styling?

2012 There won't be an S3 Exige
2013 There won't be an S3 Exige SC
2014 There won't be an S3 Exige SC with more power
2015 There won't be an S3 Exige SC with even more power and less weight
2016 There won't be an S3 Exige SC with JPS paint scheme

yadda yadda

Lets not forget about the 2015 S3 Exige GT3 concept that everyone will love the styling for but will never be built. Then a few years later comes the eventual redesign of the front to look like an MX-5. I'm kiddng (sort of) as I know, eventually, I'll buy one of the S2 variants too...

I could be wrong but I doubt they will be showing the next Elise in Geneva. Instead, I'd put my money on a SC Evora or a Evora Roadster. I can guarantee an announcement on the automatic Evora. I think the next Elise is probably another year off.

As far as power for the next Elise, I really doubt that Lotus will use the 2.5 or 2.7 4 cylinder out of the Camry/ Venza. It is possible though as they both have off the shelf 6 speed transmission options. I think instead we may want to look at the new Celica (FT-86) that has a 2.0 200hp flat 4cylinder and a turbo version as well. It is a Subaru engine but Lotus may gain access through Toyota. Just a thought.

There was a spy shot running around a couple of months ago which everyone said was the new Esprit. I stated it then and stand by my theory now that the Esprit is on a totally different platform than the current Elise or the next one so those photos were likely powertrain mules for the S3 Elise. If they were running mules of the next Esprit, they would use a modified Evora instead as it is more applicable to the end use.

I can almost guarantee that the Evora roadster is still a couple years off and if anything you're correct, the automatic Evora and the SC version will be announced before any new Elise/Exige models and Esprit.

Lotus has never been on time with anything and this will be no different.

Even though the S2 design still look amazing, technically it is already 9 years old (2001).
It would only make sense that the S3 comes with a totally new design.
